Calling All Cupcake Lovers!!!

Ok…so here is the deal! I am so loving all of these comments and getting all of you fabulous readers to speak up that I am requesting another lil’ something from you! Are you ready for this little challenge I am about to throw your way?!! Read on…

I am planning a birthday party for my darling daughter Gentry in July. I decided on the cupcake theme back in February…when I went from Target to Target to Target to Target (get the picture?!) in search of all their cupcake themed Valentine’s decor!! I realize I still have a few weeks left, but I am a big “planner aheader” and want to do as much beforehand as possible so I am not a total stress case the week of the party!
I have gone back and forth with the idea of creating the invites in Photoshop and making a sweet little card with all the details. However, I toyed around with this one day and I am just not there “skill wise”…not even close to be completely honest! Photoshop is not an easy program to tackle and I still have a LONG ways to go! So, anyway, I have pretty much now decided that I am going to hand craft these gems!! But…there is a HUGE perk to that…I can make them as shimmery and glittery as I want!! AND I have a paper crimper so I can make the “wrapper” very “wrapper-ish” looking! But then comes this obsession I have with 3D invites (thanks for opening my eyes to this Lisa!!). Should I buy little takeout boxes from Michael’s, jazz them up, stick a cupcake in them, attach my invite and hand deliver all the local ones?? I was thinking I could make the invites a little smaller so they fit with the size of the container a little better! Or should I just send out the handmade paper invites? And then to make it even MORE confusing, my new friend Crystal over at A Little Bit Funky went and posted these amazing little treats!! How does a party planning girl EVER decide?!
So then my thoughts went to the idea that maybe I could incorporate Crystal’s Cupcakes in a Jar as little take home treats for each family or something? You know, with a fun fabric tied around the top and a little thank you note for coming!!
Ok…still following along with me? I realize I am babbling a lot here, but I am trying to get ALL of my thoughts out! I guess if no one leaves me any comments, at least I will have all of my ideas in one place and not swirling around in my mind anymore!!
So, crafty ones, any idea where I can get a cupcake template? I need them in all sizes…small for some cute little cupcake barrettes I hope to make for all the little girls as favors, bigger for the invites and decor and then REALLY big for an idea I am stealing from Lisa…my party planning counterpart!
She just threw an ice cream themed bash for her sweet little Kaylen and did an AMAZING job! I SO wish I could have been there! I am linking to her post on the party…check out that “Pin the Cherry” game! Since imitation is the greatest form of flattery, I am copying that game from her only using a cupcake of course!! And her banner?? OH MY GOSH could it get any cuter?! I was originally planning a fabric banner, but I am loving the shimmer you can add to paper, so now I am going that route myself!! Oh, and here is her super cute ice cream cone invitation…see why I am wanting to hand craft my own?!!
Oh my, oh my!! I have thrown a TON of stuff at you, but I am hoping you are still reading along!! Please share any ideas for decor, games, treat sacks, favors, snacks, invitations, etc… that you may have! I get a lot of my own inspiration from Birthday Party Ideas and Amazing Moms, but I tweak things to make them more “me.” Also, if there is a fabric or scrapbook paper line that totally fits with the whole cupcake theme, SEND IT MY WAY! I used to be up on all the scrapbook stuff, but we moved away from my favorite store (Archivers) and I have not been able to keep up with it all anymore! Having two small kids will do that to a mama!!
So…I am leaving you with some pictures of her first birthday so you can get some ideas of my style!!
The Invite (I blurred out my address and phone number as much as I could…sorry, I haven’t learned that Photoshop skill either so it looks a little weird!!)

I ordered these lollipops (white chocolate) on E-bay last year and had a “situation” in getting them! The seller forgot to put ice packs in the box and they were soggy little messes by the time they made it to me…in Arizona – in JULY! Imagine that! Anyway, she made more and overnighted them since it was her error and the new ones were perfect! Because her service was above and beyond, I ordered some farm animals for Huntler’s birthday bash. We had ANOTHER incident! We happened to have a “substitute” mailman the day they arrived and he didn’t leave them on the porch because I wasn’t home! (Keep in mind I did NOT have to sign for them!!) So, they were toted all around in the September heat of Arizona for a couple of days and were also deformed by the time I got them! SOOO…I am going to try my own this year! I already have the cupcake mold…now I just need to practice! Any ideas of a fun container to display them in? And while I am at it, anyone know where to get some safari animals?! We are having us a Crocodile Party here in September!!!

And these little cuties my dad made…I just wanted to share them because they are SO darn cute!! And ideas for cupcake-looking treats that are NOT sweet?!
Photobucket
Here are the party favors…Yes, I tend to go slightly overboard and we will leave it at that!! I bought the garden totes at Hobby Lobby and painted them all white. Then I hot glued the pre-painted ladybugs on and added my goodies!!
Photobucket
And here is the birthday girl herself! No ladybug party is complete without a little white picket fence to keep all the pre
sents safe!!
Photobucket
And HOLY COW that is one LONG post! I so was not planning for that when I sat down at the computer! Let’s hope all you super creative ladies out there can inspire me with all sorts of fun ideas!! (By the way…if you just happen to be hosting a ladybug or farm themed party of your own anytime soon, I have lots of ideas for ya!!)

You’re so creative! Go for the handcrafted 3-D GLITTERY ones :) I’m not sure about a template. We made some little cupcakes for Audra’s baby shower invites, but we just made our own templates and they were little. Photoshop is hard…I’ve been learning. I do most of my designing in Illustrator though-do you have that. It’s much easier if you’re not working with photographs! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

OOH! I Love this one! Okay I know at first this is going to sound strange but they are actually pretty tasty!

    Corn Dog Muffins

1 package corn muffin mix, prepared as directed. One package hot dogs, sliced 1/4 inch thick.
Stir the hot dog slices into the batter, fill lined muffin pans 2/3 full, and bake as directed on the package.

They look like cupcakes! How fun is that If I can think of anything else I will post again! Talk to you later!

Hi Bethany! I am visiting from Lisa’s blog and found a cute idea you might be interested in! Since I can’t figure out how to post the picture the description will have to do. If you want the picture I can get it to you via Lisa :-)

Fill a sandwich baggie with jelly beans and tie it tightly. Place baggie, closure side down, in a paper cup, cut in half, then glue a red pom-pom to the top. Looks just like a cup cake :-)
