Six on Saturday!

Have you missed my weekly Six on Saturday?! It has been a couple of weeks since I have done it with us being out of town and then having company! And I was MUCH more excited to load all of  those ghost town pictures last week than to think up six bits of randomness about me! But this week I am back!!

Sorry for no pictures. First of all, I haven’t taken any…but somehow or another in the last two days something “bad” has happened to both of our computers. As in, the “old” one just won’t pull anything up but a blue screen and the “new” one won’t acknowledge anything I click on…like the mouse isn’t communicating with the computer but still moves all over? Does that make ANY sense at all??! (I am on Chris’ work laptop now…I better be careful not to mess it up somehow!!)
Ok…here are my six:
  1. I did not wear braces…
  2. Yet I still have HORRIBLE teeth…in the “cavity” sense! I could brush my teeth 14 times a day and floss 12 and STILL have a cavity at my 6 month check up!! I just went to the dentist on Wednesday…I didn’t have any NEW cavities (happy dance!), BUT…they have to replace two old fillings because they are leaking?? Jeepers!
  3. I have never broken a bone…seriously…NOT A ONE!!
  4. I have never had stitches because of a cut or gash…only after a couple of little procedures I have had to have.
  5. I hate to cook…HATE it. I am trying to do better…in fact, I made it a New Year’s Resolution, but am still not that great! Not that I am complaining, but EVERY single time I try to work in the kitchen, the kids turn into wild monsters and start acting out and fighting with each other. Does this happen to anyone else??! I would LOVE some advice!
  6. I have returned to my “morning person” self!! For as long as I can remember I was a morning person…first one up and showered and ready to go. In college it was the same…I was ready long before most of my roommates were even thinking about getting up! And then I got married…and I turned into this person who suddenly started sleeping in and hated to get up!! Don’t get me wrong here…I don’t exactly love to get up at the break of dawn, but the last few weeks, I seem to be in this routine where I wake up earlier and earlier and earlier! One day this week I was up and on the computer at 5:00 in the MORNING! Of course, I can’t take all the credit for this newfound productivity in the wee morning hours! It is bright enough to work outside here just before 5…so it is plenty light. Add that to the fact that we leave our shade up all night (no neighbors out back) AND the fact that there is construction going on all behind us, and it is no wonder I can’t seem to sleep in!!
So…there you have it for this week! Don’t forget to send me any cupcake ideas you may have and to sign up for that fun little drawing I am doing Sunday morning!!

I hear you about the kiddos going crazy when your cooking! Mine can be angels all day and the minute I start to cook or clean they go nuts!! I usually end up letting them help me… I have two stools I keep in the kitchen so they can cook with me. I let them stir and measure, they really seem to enjoy it. See you soon!

I completely agree with letting the kids help in the kitchen! Glad to know that it’s not just mine that act out at this time. We’ll have a great day but that final hour while I’m trying to cook before Dave gets home can be the worst hour of the day! One thing I have tried to do is prepare what I can during nap time, along with that hundreds of other things I try to get done. Then I can just pop stuff in the oven in time for dinner. But otherwise, Taylor is MUCH better when she gets to help…even if I just give her measuring cups and bowls to pretend she is making something. That whole cooking thing can be quite a challenge! Good luck!

Hey one more thing I did was put thier play kitchen in the kitchen area and make a big deal out of how cool it is to cook while I cook!

Hi Bethany! I just found your blog tonight, through my neighbor Megan. Then… I see a comment from Amanda. We taught at the same school for the past few years! Too funny!

Anyway, I love your blog! Your kids are adorable and you look like such a fun and great mommy! I’ll definitely be back to visit!
