Okay…so I know there are LOTS of you out there who read this blog every day or two and I am needing some input from each of you!
Here is the deal…Gentry’s birthday is just about a month away and I have been brainstorming like crazy on ideas to make her party perfect. Not that she will have any recollection of it whatsoever, but because I enjoy party planning and paying careful attention to EVERY last detail!!
Anyway, as I have mentioned before, the theme is cupcakes. Check out this post and this post if you have any questions!!
Now, I am definitely NOT changing the theme…I LOVE it and I have already bought all sorts of sweet goodies to make this bash complete! HOWEVER, I have been thinking and thinking of the wording to make the invitation fit right in and was struggling. Then last night something hit me!
Gentry has this fuzzy little (as in quarter sized!!) pink bird she is obsessed with. She calls it a “tweet tweet.” And then there is also the fact that she is obsessed with real live not so cute birds…and they are tweet tweets too! She is all the time looking out the windows and calling for them.
So anyway, she was playing with this bird last night and kept saying “tweet tweet.” Somehow the idea popped into my ever thinking little mind to incorporate birds into the party…the whimsical, cute ones! Not the germy, dirty real ones!! So what I am wondering is would it be totally crazy to have a bird and cupcake themed party?? I can’t decide and Chris wasn’t overly helpful in giving me feedback!
Here are some of my wording options…PLEASE leave me some of your thoughts! I have to be making a decision in the next day or so because we have got to get the invites done! And speaking of invites…they won’t change. They will still be cupcakes as will the majority of the decor. I was simply thinking I could cut out some birds from some of my scrapbook paper and hang from the ceiling along with my cupcakes. And maybe cut out some little birds to stick in wire that I am going to have in the cupcakes we are eating!!! Clear as mud?!! I’ll take pictures I promise!!
Ok…NOW here are the wording options I have come up with so far!!
These are the ones if we DON’T use birds!!
Sugar and sprinkles and sweet treats for you
Little Miss Gentry is turning two!
Sugar and sprinkles, there’s so much to do
Sweet little Gentry is turning two!
White blonde hair and big baby blues
Little Miss Gentry is turning two!
Ribbons and sparkles and her sweet hair do
Little Miss Gentry is turning two!
Any other brilliant ideas? There will obviously be more to the invite than just one phrase, but that is the start of it anyway! I would love to somehow use the word “shimmer” if anyone has any ideas??!
Ok…now here are the options incorporating those beloved whimsical birds!
Tweet tweet how do you do?
Little Miss Gentry is turning two.
Whimsical birds and cupcakes the theme
Won’t you help make this party a dream?
That was the first one…since then I have come up with a couple of others!
Tweet tweet how do you do?
Little Miss Gentry is turning two.
Whimsical birds will frolic and play,
But cupcakes will be the theme of the day.
OR…same first two lines and this…
Whimsical birds will guide the way,
But cupcakes will be the theme of the day.
I hope this makes sense! I am holding Gentry as I type and whipping this post up quickly because Huntler has a dentist appointment this morning! Wish us luck! He went six months ago and would not open his mouth so I am hoping today goes better! However, this morning I told him we were going and he does NOT want to go! I am planning on taking my camera…is that weird?!!
Ok…I’ll be checking back this afternoon! I hope I have LOTS of comments on this!! Remember I want to know if it is weird to combine birds with the already set cupcake theme and what you think about the wording!!
Thanks dear blog readers!! You are the best!! And I am going to get another giveaway ready soon…I have won two in the last week or so and am going to pay it forward!!! Happy Tuesday!!

You’re going to have SO much fun with the cupcake theme! I personally love the cupcakes w/o the the birds but Gentry’s bday is all about her!
I’m not good with sayings and what not but I KNOW you’ll find something absolutely perfect!

Sugar and sprinkles, there’s so much to do
Sweet little Gentry is turning two!
I like this one…I would just add birds in with the decor here and there…maybe cute little ones as cupcake toppers…
I personally like the first one, but I saw this on an invite, and thought it was cute. It actually said butterfly, because it was butterfly themed. I just changed it to birdie.
A little birdie flew into say…
Please join us to celebrate
Gentry’s 2nd birthday!
last comment was from Brandy
I really like “Sugar and sprinkles, there’s so much to do Sweet little Gentry is turning two!” I would throw some birds in where you can and keep the focus on the cupcakes. It will be great no matter which you choose, I’m sure! It sounds darling.

YAY!! Thanks for all the feedback friends! I think I will keep a cupcake-y themed invite (as far as words go) and not use any bird words…although I still think my little phrases were pretty clever!
And C…what I was trying to describe in my “curly-wire” weird sort of way were in fact cupcake toppers! Looking back, I should have just said that, but I was extremely frazzled this morning!
Sometimes I have SO many ideas in my mind that I just can’t decide what I want or should use! Thanks for reigning me back in!!
love the cupcake idea…next year go all birdies! Love the sayings:)
I like the first “non-birdie” comment and could even be added to the “birdie” comment that begins with Whimsical and ends in dream. Sounds like a cute party. I can already see all the yummy colors!
I personally think you could incorporate birdies and cupcakes. I recently did so for Easter at my parent’s house. I make birdie cupcake toppers and inserted them into the cupcakes. (I tried making the cream cheese icing look like a nest with chocolate eggs, but then I ran out of time so they only semi look like nests.) See link below for pictures. http://crossroadscottage.blogspot.com/2008/03/easter-at-mcmahons.html
I used these cupcake birdies as placecards, but this isn’t necessary. The birdies are double-sided and I glued a tooth pick in the center of the cardstock before the two sides were placed together.
Oops I spelled “birdie” wrong in my first comment, and you know me and typos! Let’s try this again.
I meant to say. . .
What if the birds eat the cupcakes?
he he!
I say keep the focus on cupcakes, and just add a whimsical bird here or there. I think it might be confusing if you put “birdie wording” on a cupcake invite, but I like the idea of using a few birds as decorations!
Whatever you decide it will be perfect!
have fun!

Sorry, I’m a little behind on the times this week
Just wanted to say your crack me up…you’re so stinkin’ creative!! Sounds like you’ve got it all figured out now. I like the “Sugar & sprinkles, there’s so much to do…sweet little Gentry is turning two”
You can always do an all birdie theme next year!! That’ll give you plenty of time to start collecting stuff, like I know you love to do!
Good luck!
