Who would have thought that less than a week after my baby turned TWO that she would decide she was ready to be potty trained?!! Seriously?! To be perfectly honest, she was probably ready about three months ago but I have been putting it off! We just got Huntler potty trained in January for pete’s sake!
Anyway, we got the potty chair out over the weekend and she wanted nothing to do with it. However, she is ALWAYS very interested when Huntler potties (on the big potty) and follows him in the bathroom 99% of the time. She has known what this potty business is for months now!! She has even sat on the big potty a few times but I prefer the potty chair at this point so I can tell if she went or not!
Anyway, Wednesday I was over in Huntler’s room putting things away and he yells across the way, “MOM, Gentry needs to potty!!!” in the loudest nearly four year old voice you can imagine! How he would know this I am not quite sure, but I headed back to where they were and took off her pull up and sat her on the potty. She did not go right away but instead was off and on the potty chair more times than I can count and running around naked! In the meantime Chris got home and we were talking in the playroom. He had asked Gentry if she wanted to put her pull up on and she said, “No, I go potty” and shot back off for the bathroom. Just a few seconds later I headed into the bathroom myself and what do I find? My sweet girl with her naked bum sticking out at me splashing in her potty. Gross. After we praised her and went on and on and made a huge ordeal out of the big event, I threw her in the tub and scrubbed her down!
So ever since we have been working with her. I had planned to start potty training her in the middle of August, but I guess we are just getting a little earlier start than I envisioned! And this may be a failed attempt…it took us three times to finally get there with Huntler, but it is worth a try!!
And in case you are wondering about the pull up situation…here is the story on that! About three weeks ago we ran out of diapers and when Chris stopped at Walgreens on his way home to pick some up for us, they were out of Size 4 Pampers Cruisers…so he got size 4 pull ups. Ever since then it is a fight (and I do mean a fight!) to get her in a diaper! She is pretty set on those pull ups! Which brings me to this…she HATES her new panties! We even let her pick some out last night (Disney princess of course!) but she will not leave them on. All she wants are the pull ups! Any advice mamas?! Huntler was so much older (well past three) before we got him potty trained and wearing undies was not a big deal at all for him so her aversion is something new for me!!
I snapped this yesterday morning…I got TONS of cute ones as she was really hamming it up, but I only have time to share this one today! For some crazy reason Gentry took a morning nap and was up by 1:00 and Huntler went down around 11:30 and was up around 2:30. They are obviously exhausted! Anyway, my day was not “normal” so I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped! However, I did get to play around a little with textures this afternoon…something I have really been wanting to do!! You can’t even tell this was taken in the boring ole bathroom!!
Okay…ONE last thing! I am so excited! At the beginning of last week I signed up for the amazing Sheye Rosemeyer’s photography workshop starting at the end of August. She was on my blog and e-mailed me that my images are lovely and I have a great eye! TOTALLY made my day that day! I know I have a LONG LONG ways to go, but if she didn’t think they were half way decent she probably wouldn’t have said anything, right?!! And then just yesterday, the fabulous Tonya who is going to be taking our family photos later this summer commented on my blog on the picture of Gentry in her pettiskirt! It’s funny how the smallest things mean the most, ya know?!
Have a happy day all! I HOPE to post more images from our fun few days with our family over the weekend!

yay, Gentry!
Oh she has the prettiest blue eyes!! Great picture
Way to go on the potty training!!
Your pics are amazing! Potty training is my most dreaded task in the world. HATE IT! Wish I had advice. Need some myself.
She is a pretty little girl. I love her name too. Very cute. Im dreading PT.
I think that the pullup thing is probably a phase and will go away on its own as she gets older. But my friends who have girls say they are a lot more adamant than boys when it comes to wearing anything!Brandy
