Rise and Shine

This is going to be another quick entry today! My littlest munchkin is going on a sleep strike and decided to wake at 4:30 this morning! Well, actually she woke at 4:00 but I left her in her room until 4:30. Anyway…I THINK she is sleeping right now so I am going to keep this quick as I am sure today is going to be crazy around here! If she has a morning nap that is going to throw our afternoon all out of whack, so I need to get my stuff done (as in multiple loads of laundry, scheduling our window to get fixed, ordering contacts, unloading the dishwasher…the list goes on!!) while she is napping and Huntler is at school!

But, I know how disappointed I am when I check in on my favorite blogs and there isn’t anything new to see so I wanted to give ya a little post at least!!
So as I inhale my carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting and sip on my pink lemonade (yeah, so we were SUPPOSED to start eating better this week and working out…and yes, that is my breakfast!!), I thought I would show ya a couple from our Sunday night photo shoot! I have SO many more that I can’t wait to get edited and ready, but considering our sleep issues the last couple of days, it isn’t done yet!!
The first one is pretty much straight out of the camera. I cropped it a smidge and adjusted the contrast just a bit, but that is it! I simply love Gentry’s scowl! She has so much attitude these days that this is a perfect reflection of her at two years and two months!!
And sweet, happy, trying so hard to do everything right Huntler just brings a smile to my face! He is such a GOOD kid and although 90% of the time he flashes me that cheesy fake smile and squinty little eyes, he brings so much happiness to my life!! I can’t imagine what I did before these guys came into our lives and forever changed me!!
Photobucket
This one I did a little Photoshopping to! I LOVE the idea of it but I need to redo it I think! But since I don’t have time right now, I thought I would put it up anyway!!
Photobucket
Alright then! I should get! All of Huntler’s clothes are waiting patiently to be put away and the huge Little People village that we have acquired is spread from one end of the playroom to another and people are EVERYWHERE! So, I have tons to do!!
And, if I owe you an email, I am going to make it a priority to get caught up today and tomorrow!!

Cuz

This little one and all of her beautiful ways just won’t take a nap today. “Why?” you ask. Well, my friends, that is exactly what I asked her! It is really quite simple you see. “Cuz. It no dark out Mommy.” How incredibly silly of me!!

Photobucket
I am not quite sure about this business! I am still quite fond of Gentry’s naps and cherish that little bit of “me time” each afternoon! Huntler gets to watch a movie or do puzzles or color or whatever he wants and I get to do laundry, unload and reload the dishwasher, check blogs and even update my blog!! (That is why this is so short today!!)
I will say her naps have been getting shorter lately but surely to goodness she isn’t giving them up yet?!

A Productive Weekend!!

Don’t ya just L*O*V*E it when you feel like you have accomplished a TON?! That is where I am today!! YAY!! After another incredibly long week of fighting, whining, teething, hitting, time-outs and you name it, I was ready for a nice, productive weekend! And I got it!!

I spent much of yesterday working on stuff for Huntler’s birthday party! The 15 train soaps I whipped up are now perfectly wrapped in little clear baggies and adorned with colorful bits of curly ribbon! All of the invitations have either been mailed or delivered; the last few details of the cake have been worked out and it is ordered (I gave in…it will have a face on it just like the Thomas characters!!); the menu is planned, and bits and pieces of the favors should be arriving tomorrow (I like original ideas so I try to do as much as possible on my own!!). What am I forgetting?! The lollies will be started on this week. The silverware will be wrapped, the plates and napkins purchased and tucked away until the big day. The games will be created and the birthday boy will be excited beyond belief! And that is what is truly important! With the kids’ birthdays just a couple of months apart I have very little time to “regroup” after Gentry’s before diving into Huntler’s. I hope I am able to pull off something just as spectacular and memorable in his eyes!!

Here are a few pics of what I have done so far…and please excuse the horrid coloring in the photos! I just am not one to spend time editing pictures of “stuff” and since I don’t really like to take pictures of “stuff,” the images speak for themselves! But you get the idea anyway!!
Ahhh…the soaps! I learned a little from the cupcake soaps and a soap mold works FAR better for soap making than a lollipop mold! Imagine that!! Anyway, I got brave and made FIVE different colors of these little treasures! Once again, they have glitter! Yes, I realize Huntler is a boy and glitter may seem a little, well, girly, but he is four and glitter is still cool! Also, for anyone out there who wants to give soap making a whirl, it is THE EASIEST thing I have ever done!! Seriously!! I just wanted to let you know that there is some sort of soap that allows the color and glitter to be dispersed evenly throughout the soap instead of gathering at the bottom of the mold. I didn’t see this until I ran back to Michael’s to pick up another cube of soap because I was out! Anyway, it does disperse everything evenly but it takes away the translucent feel and the soaps are virtually impossible to get out of the mold!! The “regular” ones just popped right out, but I ended up cracking my mold with this fancy stuff!! Just thought you should know in case you ever try!! (The yellow one here was made with the fancy stuff and the others with the regular soap!! You can see a difference if you look closely enough!)
Photobucket
And the invites! WOW! These pictures do not do them justice! They turned out really cute and Huntler absolutely LOVES them! I added his pic to the front with pop up squares and it really stands out!! If you lift it up, all of the party details are on the inside!
Photobucket
Photobucket
So…I also found myself working on a crafty little project I have been meaning to do for months now but just haven’t!! My friend Rachel and I were chatting last week about bow boards and then sweet Julie blogged about these fun little gems, so I enlisted the help of my handyman husband and his staple gun and got busy on a bow board of my own…well, for Gentry of course!!
(Once again…I know the pictures are terrible! Just look at the cute board and ignore the “off lighting” and everything else that is wrong with them!!)
Photobucket
This fabric, Carnival Bloom by Michael Miller, happens to be my favorite! I just ADORE it!! So, if anyone feels the need to buy anything in this fabulous print and send it my way, I am totally lusting after this, this, this, this, and this!!
Back to the bow board! I was originally going to do a wooden sign and die cut Gentry’s name with fun papers and then adhere it to the board with Mod Podge and hang ribbon from it to attach the bows to (similar to this), but since I haven’t gotten around to that in the last, oh, year, I thought I better just go with what I have and get to it!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the board what we ended up with! And let me just say that it only took about half an hour! HALF AN HOUR PEOPLE!! It takes me 2-3 hours to make one of those over the top bows and this little gem took just a smidge of time!!
Here are a couple of shots of the detail!! So fun!! That button in the center is just a fabric covered button I did really quick and stuck on with some hot glue!! You know me and ribbon…I have hundreds of yards so this was easy to pull off!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
And here it is all ready to go! It is so darn cute I hate hanging it
behind her door, but it just doesn’t go with the feel of her room!! And plus, the fact that the bows are not flat and perfect would drive me crazy if I had to see it all the time!!
Photobucket
I also worked on some other ribbony fun today (nope…NOT bows!!) but I am waiting to share those pics until another time!! Don’t worry…shouldn’t be too awfully long!!
And one last note for now! Check this out!!
Photobucket
{MMMM!!!} Fall is HERE!! Although it is still hot in my neck of the woods, there is nothing that screams fall like candy corn! I love this stuff! But, of course I do…it is pure sugar!! Chris isn’t much of a fan, but he can take it in small doses when mixed with peanuts!! Ever tried it that way? Just buy plain ol’ peanuts and mix it with your candy corn and it totally tastes like a Pay Day candy bar! Delish!! And since that wasn’t my recipe, I must say, thanks Mom!
And on that note I am off! I have a date with my family and camera here in a bit!! Headed out the enjoy the 90 degree weather! Yep…it is cooling off my friends!! Our pool is even too cold to swim in if you can believe that!! It (the pool) was just 78 yesterday so we had to put the cover back and to help it retain some heat!!
Enjoy what is left your weekend!!

My Brown Eyed Boy

So taking pictures of Huntler has been a challenge lately, a real challenge!! He is almost four and tends to act, well, almost four! As soon as he sees the camera come out he instantly glues this cheesy fake smile to his sweet face or does this weird squinting thing with his eyes. Usually both!!
So yesterday afternoon we were laying on my bedroom floor playing and I decided to give it another whirl. You know, try, try again!! And my patience paid off! I finally got some genuine pics of the little man!!
Each time I look at photos of Huntler I am immediately drawn to his deep, dark eyes. He has had these mysterious eyes since birth…always dark, always taking it all in. We really aren’t sure where these brown eyes came from! Chris has blue eyes (which Gentry obviously got!!) and mine are more green! Anyway, these soulful eyes of Huntler’s seem as if they have story upon story to share with the world…
Photobucket
I was obviously playing in Photoshop in this one…I gave it a dreamy feel!!
Photobucket

Would you come on already Mom!!

Photobucket

And my personal fave of the bunch!! I have said before what a serious, intense child Huntler tends to be so I LOVE these shots when he just lets it all go and acts four!!
Photobucket
He continues to LOVE school! He is learning SO much and in turn is teaching Gentry! He sings his days of the week like nobody’s business and has in turn taught Gentry most of them because he belts out the song ALL the time. He also has learned to spell his name and is working on writing it!! I went upstairs the other day when he was coloring and saw an “H” and a “U” on the paper!! WHAT???? He has only been in school for a month!! As hesitant as I was to send him, I would have been holding him back and am SO glad Chris insisted that he go. And he LOVES it! Who doesn’t want the best for their child and for them to be truly happy?!!
Okay…well, the munchkins are singing away their days of the week as I type so I am off to relish in the pure innocence of two and four year old joy!! It has been an extremely trying week with these guys around here again and I want to enjoy these refreshing few moments…won’t be long until one of them is hitting the other or taking toys away causing a big commotion!
Enjoy your weekend!!

May I Have Your Attention Please!!

First and foremost I want to thank each and every one of you who has so kindly donated to the TS Alliance on behalf of sweet Avery. I am quite certain that none of you know Little Miss Avery and the sincere kindness you have shown is simply beyond words to me. I popped over to the walk-a-thon page last night and was brought to tears. I just sat at the computer for a moment and cried. Cried at the complete and overwhelming generosity of those of you who took a moment to think of sweet Avery and donate to a cause that means more to her family than you can even begin to fathom. And I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that many more of you have taken the time to say a prayer for her family or kept them in your thoughts throughout the day. For that, I thank you.
You all know by now that Lisa is far more to me than “just a friend.” She is family in every sense of the word. I have laughed with her, cried with her, sat with her and talked with her for hours. And although our get-togethers are far less frequent than they once were, the place this family holds in my heart is just as strong as ever. Hopefully once the walk is over she’ll have time to get back to her blog and you can follow along with her cute little family as well!!
So…are you ready for another HUGE batch of pics?! The lighting last night was A*M*A*Z*I*N*G! Late in the afternoon dark clouds moved in from the west and as the skies turned cloudy this beautiful light formed. And since the sun was not beating down on us, I got the kids dressed (they get dressed and undressed numerous times a day!!) and we headed out…camera in tow! It was one of the best times we have had in a long time! Happy, giggling kids, clouds, a nice breeze, thunder rolling in the distance…total ME weather!! (If you don’t know…I LOVE * LOVE * LOVE cloudy, cool days! I am so productive on dreary days!!)
And before I go any further…I want to take note that these are ALL of Gentry. No, she is not my favorite child…I don’t have a favorite child, but she is just so easy to take pictures of these days! She is still “genuine” for the most part…while Huntler gives me fake smiles and stares up at the sky with squinted eyes!! I did take some of him as well, but he was zooming around on his bike and they were NOT good. So, I had a mini photo shoot with him this afternoon and if I have anything good out of those, I’ll share tomorrow! Just wanted to clear that up in case anyone out there has the wrong idea!!
Now, on to the pictures! I just adore them! I had to do VERY little post processing and am just so happy with what I got!! (And all in manual mode, thank you very much!!)
WEEE!!! Here she comes with all her spunk!! Cute dress, hunh?! That is her “Little Shopping Girl” pillowcase dress! Grandma got it for her for Christmas and it is VERY cute!!
Photobucket
Ummm…we seem to have a mushroom problem these days! They are popping up all over our front yard!! The kids are fascinated if you can’t tell…
Photobucket
Uh-oh…does this shot remind you of anyone? As the storm started moving in, the thunder was beginning to roll! I was in heaven. Gentry was scared. Our big storm from a couple of weeks ago seems to have traumatized the poor child!!
Photobucket
Now for my favorite three!!
Photobucket
Beautiful blue eyed girl!
Photobucket
She is every bit ornery as she is cute! Don’t let her fool you for one second!!
Photobucket

So, now for a little more photography chat! Sorry if you are sick of it, but that is what is going on in my world these days and since this is my blog, well, you have to read about it over and over again!!

And since it is my blog, I am going to brag on myself for just a moment if you don’t mind! I was feeling a little bummed yesterday with the photos I put up. I mentioned that I also put those same images in my forum for constructive criticism. Can I just tell you that everyone LOVES that first shot of Gentry from yesterday?!! It was my favorite because of the idea behind it, but I was picking it apart. It was so fun to read all my comments here and in the forum on it! TOTALLY made my night! It is coming together for me and I LOVE that!
That being said, my incredibly sweet  husband seems to think that my pictures are just dandy and I don’t need that fancy new camera I am lusting over! So honey, if you are reading this, I DO need that new camera. Just imagine what I could capture with bigger and better sensors, less noise and faster focus!! WOW! (And for those of you picking yourself up off the ground after seeing the price of that baby, well, I am right there with ya!! However, as I pursue this and take the business route {on a small scale}, I will hopefully make some of my money back!!)
And now I need some help from all of you lovely readers!! This is going to be fun!! Let’s just say that I was g
iven a gift card to Baby Gap for Gentry (which I was) and I am not wanting to exceed the amount by much. I have narrowed my wants down to two fabulous items…but WHICH one do I pick?!!
The oh-so trendy polka dot shirt?!
Photobucket
Or the super fun and sassy tennies?!
Photobucket
I am leaning one way (which I am not going to tell you just yet!!), but I want to know what all you fabulous readers think?!!
And on that note, I should get going! Hope everyone is having a great day!! Don’t forget to tell me your vote!!

Sweetness

Could it be that I am posting yet again this week?! WHOO HOO I am on a roll!! I am keeping this one short as I HAVE to get some things ordered for Huntler’s party or it will be too late! But, I wanted to post my latest images.
I am still plugging away in my class! LOVE IT! I am learning so much…yet I still have a lot to learn!! These are the images I just posted on my forum for a little constructive criticism. I won’t go on and on here about everything I see wrong with them since most of you simply don’t care!
But I will say that I love the idea behind all of them…they just didn’t quite turn out as I saw in my mind!!
Ahh my Gentry girl!! She was actually hiding under a blanket when I snapped this first one! I was in a total rush and didn’t have my settings right and it is slightly out of focus, but I love the idea of it! Of course, I tried again yesterday afternoon but she wanted nothing to do with posing for me! It is always on her terms, you see?!!
Photobucket Image Hosting

These next two are kinda fun! I am now trying to focus on my post processing skills…enhancing each image yet making it still fairly natural looking! That takes some practice! And a lot of learning new things in Photoshop!!

Don’t ya just LOVE her bloomers?!! Get yourself some here!! The seller is amazing to work with and these are beyond cute!!
Photobucket Image Hosting
And our little pink ghost! For the longest time she has “hid” under her fuzzy pink “b!” This is exactly what she was doing here…hiding!!
Photobucket Image Hosting
And then it was Huntler’s turn! We actually got a break from the intense sun and heat yesterday with CLOUDS!! And even some rain, lightning and thunder to go along with them!! YAY!! Anyway, the kids had ice cream cones for snacks and since it was cloudy I suggested we go outside and eat them…this way I could get in some more practice!!
Not loving any of these…but they are still cute!! Just not quite what I was after!
Photobucket Image Hosting
Photobucket Image Hosting
This last one is probably my favorite of these…I like how I was able to capture the cone in focus and blur Huntler some!
Photobucket Image Hosting
So, that is about all that is happening here! We had a playdate this morning and now the kids are resting so I am trying to get my computer work done! My patience has been tested beyond measure the last couple of days. The whining, fighting and just plain naughtiness is wearing me out!! I hope we get through this phase QUICK!!!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous Wednesday!! I am off to order umpteen engineer hats!!

Hijacked

This is Bethany’s friend Lisa, taking over her blog in a friendly blog heist! You see dear readers, Bethany needs your help. A few weeks ago she blogged about her efforts to raise funds in honor of my little girl, Avery, who has a rare disease called tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). Bethany won’t be able to return to Kansas to join us next weekend in the walk-a-thon we are hosting to raise money in search of a cure for TSC, but she is still a part of our team, Avery’s Avengers, and she needs your help!

It seems odd to be writing about such a “serious” thing as Avery’s disease on Bethany’s blog…it’s such a “happy place” you know? But she loves me, and I think was a little bummed that she didn’t get a bigger response from her original post, so now you’re stuck with me! I think when you hear about a disease or a “tragedy,” as some people have called Avery’s diagnosis, if you’re like me, you know on some level that it could happen to you, but assume that these kinds of things happen to “other people.” At least that’s what I thought until my precious, perfect, “healthy” baby had a seizure in my arms two years ago.  She was only four months old.  The next forty eight hours were a blur of medical procedures, tests, and devastating news.  Life as we knew and understood it crumbled around us as we learned that our precious little one had multiple tumors in her brain, heart, kidneys, and skin.  We were told that she would probably never walk or talk and that her life would be one medical challenge after another.

Photobucket

We are a family much like yours I’m assuming. If you enjoy reading Bethany’s blog, well, then we probably have a lot in common, because I enjoy it too, as Bethany is my best friend. Like you, I am a mom obsessed with my kids and all things surrounding them. I love crafting. I love blogging. I get impatient with my husband. I love shopping and am obsessed with Gymboree. I watch too much reality t.v. and I just happen to have a little girl who has brain tumors and seizures every day.

The difference between you and I, is that twice I have handed my baby over to brain surgeons and watched as they walked down a long hallway with her, wondering if I would ever see her alive again. The difference is that I have had conversations with Avery’s doctors about “end of life care” and what our wishes would be, should Avery not be able to maintain her heart rate and breathing without “extraordinary levels” of life support. The difference between us is that you read Bethany’s blog, but I have called her on my cell phone, from the hallway floor outside Avery’s hospital room while doctors worked desperately to save her life, and sobbed with my friend while we waited to hear if she would make it through another life threatening crisis.

Photobucket

Photobucket

No child should have to suffer the way Miss Avery has. No mom should have to think these thoughts. But some of us are forced to confront reality. We wake up every day to realize that we are living every mom’s worst nightmare. My baby is really, really sick and I can’t make it all better. I don’t know how long I will get to keep my Avery Elizabeth, and that makes every day a difficult balance of rejoicing in her life, and fearing her death.

When I read other mom’s blogs about the joys and trials of raising little ones, I can totally relate because I have a perfectly healthy six year old, Kaylen Rose. Yet, reading stories about “normal” stuff like potty training mishaps and milestones is bittersweet because at two and a half, Miss Avery is still pretty much an infant. She may always be and that’s o.k., as long as I get to keep her. But it doesn’t take away that longing in my heart for just a little glimpse of normalcy. I long to hear her say, “I love you mommy,” but I may never hear those precious words from my baby girl.

The last thing I want for you to feel when you read this is sorry for me, because of Avery I am a stronger person than I ever imagined possible. I don’t take a single second of her life for granted. I do hope you will  stop and take a moment to give thanks for all the blessings in your life. Really listen to your children’s laughter. Log off the computer and take an afternoon just to follow their lead. Realize that this day is truly a precious gift you’ve been given.

Sincerely,

Avery’s Mommy

***So, Lisa actually had a link to send you to my personal fundraising page, but I am sending you to hers instead. You see, she did not say this, but if she earns $500 then she has a corporate sponsor who has agreed to match her!! Of course I want to see her do this and get that extra money from them!! Please don’t feel pressured, but if you can help, know that it is appreciated far more than you will EVER realize!!
Follow this link and it will guide you…

It’s A Darn Good Thing She’s So Stinkin’ Cute…

Photobucket
This little sassy pants is giving us quite a run for our money these days! She is a good kid, she genuinely is, but this past week she has been pushing my buttons like no other! The hitting, the talking back, the antagonizing of her brother…I could go on and on!! It just kinda wears on a mom, ya know?! It is a good thing she is so adorable and melts my heart with her smiles or I might have lost it by now!!
Somehow or another I have managed to kick myself into high gear and have gotten tons done! Here are a few little peeks at some headbands that just entered my Etsy shop…
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
And my personal fave from the batch…
Photobucket
I LOVE the color in this one!! And the gnome is too cute for words! As I was “fluffing” it back up this morning Gentry just giggled and giggled at the “little guy” as she called him!! Guess I should get started on her little gnome bowband next!!
And last but certainly not least, thanks for all the fun comments on my last post! I {love} getting comments and it has been fun to read them all today!! Thanks friends!!
And on that note, I am off! But yay for me posting two days in a row again! So far, so good this week!!

Challenges

Most of you know that I am in an online photography workshop right now and it is consuming most of my free time…but in an amazing way because not only do I want it to…I am LEARNING!! So much so that I am pretty darn sure I will be taking the more advanced course following this one!! The girls in the class are all so helpful and encouraging and the feedback from each of them and the incredibly talented Sheye (I feel as though I am on a first name basis with her these days!!) is invaluable!!
Most of you don’t get all the photog lingo, but Friday night after reading and re-reading and re-reading my material yet again, I had my “Ah-Ha” moment and shooting in manual all came together for me! I finally get it!! YAY!!
I still need practice, but just the fact that I now know I should raise my ISO or make my aperature wider to get the desired shutter speed makes a WORLD of difference!!
So, our task this week is to think outside the box and come up with some creative shots using different angles…above, below, from the side…whatever you can think of!! I tend to lay on the ground and do crazy things anyway, so in an attempt to step outside “my” box, I took inspiration from another incredibly talented photographer, sweet Tonya, and put Huntler on my feet this morning and let him “fly” while taking pictures.
Let me just say that this was NOT an easy task by any stretch of the imagination!! Trying to balance a preschooler on my feet while at the same time fiddling with my camera to get my settings just right was a tad bit tricky! I am not sure how, but I did manage to snap a few that were in focus! Needless to say, both my arms and legs were somewhat tired after all of this, but I got the shots!! (I am sure the neighbors thought I was crazy…we did this laying on our driveway at 10:00 this morning…but at least I took off my skirt and put on some jeans…now that would have been a sight!!!)
And there are only shots of Huntler…I would require help to get Gentry’s wiggly little body up there without her falling while trying to take pictures!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
I think this last one is my fave! I am still trying to learn more about editing and finding my niche, but the one thing I do know is that I prefer the vintage look!!
Photobucket
As for the weekend…we have had a great one! I managed to fit in some crafty fun yesterday and hope to get this little guy finished up and listed in my Etsy shop tomorrow!! I have several other fun charms I want to jazz up some bows with too…
Photobucket
As I type Gentry is napping…in her BIG GIRL BED!! Okay, so it isn’t actually her “real” big girl bed because we haven’t bought a matress yet, but we did take the front of her crib off (we have a convertible crib) and now she has a little toddler sized day bed!! She is so cute in it!! I spent quite a LONG time in her room playing yesterday! She was having so much fun putting her babies to bed and then hopping in bed with them!! And, knock on wood…she has now had two naps and one bedtime and hasn’t gotten up! Could we possibly be so lucky as to have two children who STAY in bed when we put them there?! (Well, Huntler had some issues way back when, but once we got him his big boy bed, they resolved themselves!! And he has been sneaking back into our room lately, but I am hopeful that is just a phase!) At any rate, she looks pretty cute in that bed of hers!!
And she loves it. She was RIGHT beside Chris while he was taking the front off and out of the blue said, “Thank you Daddy.” And while we played in there yesterday she kept telling me, “Daddy take bed off.” Meaning, Daddy fixed her up with a fun new bed!!
These pictures are horrible from the technical standpoint (especially the one of her awake…major saturation issues because of her bedding!), but they are cute and I thought I would share!
Here is Miss  Sassy Pants right after Daddy finished up on her bed! She was hiding and playing! With some editing this would be a really cute shot!!
Photobucket
And call me C*R*A*Z*Y but I snuck into her room while she was napping yesterday to get this! Chris and Huntler were running errands and I should have been doing a bazillion other things, but I HAD to have a picture of my baby girl in her new bed! She stirred a couple of times which caused me to panic, but she went right back to sleep. Oh okay, so one time she looked right at me and I closed my eyes while sitting there. I had to fight to keep from laughing at how funny the situation was!!
Photobucket
So the other day my friend Julie blogged about selling her husband’s iPhone and making enough to turn around and buy two brand new iPhones!! When Chris got his iPhone back in February the “plan” was for him to use it until July when the new model was released and then I would get his…the hand-me-down. But, I was okay with that because really, all I care about is the music, the pictures and the
internet!! However, he has now decided that he likes some features on his better than on the new one and isn’t ready to part with it yet. So, okay, no big deal. I have a cell and it is fine…I rarely use the thing anyway. Plus, I have my eyes (and heart) set on a fancy new camera…that is more up my alley these days.
HOWEVER…it has come to our attention lately that the other boy in the house is quite obsessed with all things technology as well. EVERY SINGLE DAY he asks to play games on this phone. In all honesty, he knows how to operate it better than I do! He slides his little fingers along to unlock it and selects which game he wants and everything. In fact, yesterday he was playing on it and Chris said, “Hey, he is sending e-mails from my phone!!” So, while he was checking to see who and what Huntler had e-mailed out, he discovered that he was just sending out his game scores to himself! He has learned to spell his name and keyed in, “H U N T L E R.” How is that for hilarious?!!
Here is a shot of him from yesterday morning…The phone is more in focus than him on purpose!
Photobucket
And two more shots for today…I have to make up for my lack of posting the last couple of weeks!!
Awhile back I bought Gentry these sweet owl jammies. Well, the truth is, I bought her the jammies but I also bought myself the matching PJ pants. SO CUTE! Anyway, they are quite popular PJ’s I must say!! Shelly (she is owl OBSESSED and totally rubbing off on me!!) bought the same stuff and sweet Michelle has the matching pants too!!
Gentry wore hers for the first time the other night and loves them! Seems as though the whole owl thing is also rubbing off on her! I love the fact that they are so bright and cheery, so when she woke up the next morning after wearing them, I just let her leave them on all day! We weren’t going anywhere and they make me smile they are so fun!!
Look at that face…she comes up with some doozies these days!!

Friday…

Due to my lack of posts lately, I am skipping the whole “flashback” thing and just blogging today! I can hardly believe it is Friday and yet another week is coming to a close! Gotta love these holiday weeks!! They are short and sweet!!

Things here are moving right along. This hot weather is wearing on me. Back home the highs have been in the SEVENTIES the last two or three days. THE SEVENTIES PEOPLE! It doesn’t even get that cool at night here yet. Ahh…big sigh. I know it is coming, it is still just a couple of months off. I guess I am just feeling a little homesick. We should be heading back next week, but life has happened and we aren’t. So here is me…counting down to the holidays!!
On a happier note, the kids are absolutely hilarious these days!! I am quite certain that none of my friends believe me because Gentry morphs into this shy, quiet child every time I take her anywhere, but the girl speaks in paragraphs. She belts out the ABC’s, rattles off the names of half of Huntler’s Thomas characters (please tell me there are other two year old little girls out there who know Diesel 10, Thomas, Rosie, James, Bertie, Rocky, coal tenders, etc…?), and just jabbers nonstop. Understandable jabber that is. She keeps us smiling for sure!!
Huntler is well, Huntler. He is so extremely sensitive. Last night I popped into their bathroom while Chris was giving them baths and he asked me if I had heard about a baby who had fallen into a pool here in our suburb. I had heard nothing about it (we don’t watch the news so we never know what is going on in the world…bad, I know) so he proceeded to tell me about how this little boy (about 1) had crawled through the doggy door and fallen in the pool. He was still alive when they found him, but he is in critical condition. Apparently Huntler was listening to EVERY SINGLE WORD. He started asking all sorts of questions about the baby and when he got to go home and on and on. We used the opportunity to talk to him about water safety again and when he was still upset, we said a prayer for the baby. I went on with my business of doing laundry and picking up when I heard him start crying, I mean really crying. When I asked what was wrong, Chris said he was still upset about the baby in the hospital. He wanted him to come to our house so we could give him a ban-Baid and take him home. BROKE MY HEART. We have known all along he was a sensitive, caring little guy, but wow, this had me fighting tears. I certainly didn’t want to add to his distress so I tried to put a positive spin on it and told him that the baby’s mommy and daddy were with him and reading him stories, talking to him and singing him songs. He was still upset but accepted it. My sweet, sweet boy.
No…that is obviously not a funny story at all. However, this one is! He had not been in bed 5 minutes when he was back in our room. This seems to be becoming a habit, but we allow it. It isn’t as though he is going to still be sleeping with us when he is 10!! So anyway, back he trots. There is a bug in his room. Oh, but then it gets better! There are little CREATURES in his bed!! Little creatures?!! How do you not crack up at that?! He is so, so funny!! Just a different kind of funny than Gentry. She performs and hams it up while Huntler is completely innocent with his funnies!!
So…my friend Shelly posted this quiz on her blog yesterday and talked about all of the people who check in on her every day and wondered who they really are, ya know?! Where are they from? Would they be friends in real life? That sort of thing. You can check out her post here. Like Shelly, I think about that stuff all the time…
As for me, I tend to be an open book. I share pretty much my entire life on here (well, not EVERYTHING obviously, but pretty close!!). That was actually one of the reasons I started blogging…to record my thoughts and feelings and little bits of random. Since I haven’t scrapbooked in two and a half years, I can’t really use that to record bits and pieces of our daily life, so I use my blog to do it! I just happen to have a whole lotta people following along!! YAY!! So, a big THANK YOU to all of you who take the time out of your busy days to pop in and check on us and leave a comment from time to time!! I mean it when I say I LOVE comments!! {Hint, Hint all you lurkers…leave me a comment and I’ll be sure to check out your blog this weekend!!)
Back to Shelly here…I have never met the girl but I am pretty darn sure we would be friends in “real life!” And there are several other great girls I have met through the wonderful world of blogging that I am quite certain I would be friends with too! Can I just say how much I LOVE the internet?!! It has kept me connected when I REALLY needed it!!
Okay…I keep getting sidetracked! So much to say, so little time! (The kids will be waking soon!) Anyway…I took this “Accent Quiz” from Shelly’s blog and it has me laughing out loud. According to it, I have a Northeastern accent!! As in, Jersey, New York accent! For any of you who know me, that is so NOT me!! I wonder how I ended up with that?!!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

The Midland
The Inland North
Philadelphia
Boston
The South
The West

Ahhh….what else? I don’t think much else is happening in my neck of the woods! I have dates with my camera all weekend to do some more  practicing!! And then there is Huntler’s birthday party that I am still working away on!! And I HOPE to get a few more things added to my little Etsy shop over the weekend! I have lots of things made, just having trouble finding time to get them added!!
And on that note I am off! Huntler is awake and I am taking him out with me to do a little photo shoot this morning before the sun gets to be too bright!! I have to take pictures of something sentimental…I have the PERFECT little item for this (no, not Huntler…I am just letting him go play while I shoot!!) and I’ll share soon!!
Have a FABULOUS Friday my sweet blog readers!!
