First of all…HOLY COW this is my 200th post already! WOW! Where does time go?! Had I not been so overwhelmed with my photography workshop as well as Huntler’s big birthday party, I would have planned ahead a bit and put together another fun giveaway, but let’s face it…I am being pulled in 100 different directions right now and there is only one of me!! HOWEVER…I have a REALLY fun giveaway in my mind for sometime in the next week or two!! So stay tuned…you’ll be glad you did!!
In case anyone cares, we spent the morning with our friends at a super fun playdate! Thanks again Rachel!! (I would TOTALLY link to her, but her blog is private, so you can’t snoop around and check her out!!) Anyway, as if that wasn’t enough to wear us all out (because it was), we left there and headed straight to Wal-Mart in search of 14 red bandanas!! We’re having us a train party in these parts come Saturday and red bandanas are a MUST for anyone who rides the rails!! I am having a hard time getting going on this party…I just have so many irons in the fire and it seems like Gentry’s party JUST happened! BUT…it is coming together! I spent the two hours at the playdate wrapping silverware in napkins and tying red ribbon around it while kids ran wild and us moms all chatted! Worked out perfectly since my two were oblivious to me anyway…I may as well have been being productive!!
I promised the kids McDonald’s if they would just LEAVE Rachel’s without melting down (they were having a ball!), but instead of stopping in the extremely long line at the McDonald’s in Wally World, we drove a mile down the road and went through the drive thru. And what did my happy little eyes land on?!!!
What?! The Wizard of Oz Madame Alexander dolls again?! Gosh darn it! Some of the characters may frighten some of you with their tiny little eyes that open and close, but I love them!! We all know I am a Kansas girl and nothing says “Kansas” like the Wizard of Oz!! (I obviously have a soft spot for ‘em!!) They had these little collector dolls out last year too and I drove all over creation to get the complete set! Silly me never once thought to look on E-bay and save myself HOURS of car time and still not end up with the complete set! So, my parents bought both Gentry and my niece the entire set last year. Gentry’s set is carefully tucked away in her keepsake box and one of these days (when she is an adult!), I will give them to her. We also have a non-complete set that I let them play with, so it works out nicely!!
Anyway, as I pulled away from McDonald’s I was already punching in my mom on speed dial! While I was driving she started searching on E-bay and there were pages of them!! YAY!! So, you know me and my need for instant gratification. I came home, did a little E-bay research to find out how much they were going for and then did a “Buy it Now” on a set that was right at the going rate. So, the 2008 collection will be making its way to my mailbox before too long! I thought about saving them for Christmas, but really, what is the point? I am not going to let Gentry open them, so I may as well just pack them up in her keepsake box along with last year’s set! They must have been HOT items for McDonald’s to do the same thing again! Don’t get me wrong…these dolls are NOT identical to the other ones, but I just mean the concept!! So, I am excited! I am not sure Chris will be quite as thrilled as I am, but what a neat thing for Gentry to have once she gets older. There is no guarantee she will live in Kansas her whole life, but it is such a part of me and where she will spend the majority of her growing-up years, I think they’ll mean a lot to her!
On a COMPLETELY different note, season two of Lipstick Jungle premiers tonight!! I was suckered into this little drama from the get-go last year and once again, I will NOT be missing an episode this season!! I watch far more reality TV these days, but this is one show I am definitely hooked on!! If you have never watched it, I highly suggest you start!! You may be a bit behind, but surely you can catch up!!
In other news, it is an inferno outside right now. So much for that little glimmer of hope I had last week when the highs were only in the 90′s a couple of days. You know when you go out and it is just plain HOT? Like sucks the life right out of you hot? Yep…that is how it is down here in the forgotten land! Ughh… I hate it. And I am not going to apologize for saying that! I HATE it! Despite the fact that they have vents blowing directly on them and I had the AC on maximum cool, the kids’ backs were STILL wet with sweat when we got home. The car thermometer read 106 and as of right now, ours is reading 108. Hello fall??? Where ARE you?! Any day now, ANY day!
And what is a post without some pics of the kids?! I haven’t taken any in the past few days, so I am going to share some from our family photo shoot with Tonya back in August!!
And on that note I should get! There are a bunch of guys working out front (for some reason they ripped up a section of our sidewalk with a jackhammer this morning?) and I am sure all the ruckus is going to be waking sleeping beauty! Plus, the dryer is beeping, Quicken is taunting me in the background of my blogger screen and I need to get about a million things done for this party!
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!!

You have so much energy! I love seeing people pour that energy and creativity into their kiddos…sounds like the party will be so fun and, wow, you are teaching your kids so much on how to be dynamic!

I had friends that searched every McDonald’s for the “Cars” toys that came out.
I try not to let Jackson see new “prizes”…..if only they served Tofu

Hey!
Love the pics! And 200 posts..good job!! Playdate wore us out as well..Parker slept for 4 hours, and we had to wake him up from his drooling sleep! Very nice!
Doesn’t it seem like the loud noises always happen during nap time? I wish I could ask the recycle guys to come pick up the cans at a different time..haha! It would be fun to just see their reaction anyhow!
Have a good day! Hope you found the bandanas!
Oh my goodness, I am obsessed with anything Wizard of Oz. I had the honor of playing Dorothy in the musical theatre production of it my senior year of high school (11 years ago…ack!) Somewhere Over the Rainbow might be my fav song ever!
Also, I absolutely LOVE that pic of your and Gentry’s hands with matching nail polish..Oh how sweet! I would love to do that with my 9 month old but don’t think she would hold still long enough for me to paint those little piggies.
Also, you left a sweet comment on my blog the other day asking where I got the paper that I posted a photo of. They were rolls of wrapping paper that I found at a local stationery shop, however, I know they are originally from Paper Source (www.paper-source.com)
Have a GREAT day!!!
