Rain Drops Are Fallin’ On My Head!

It RAINED yesterday! As in 1.3 inches rain!! WAHOOOOOO!!!! That is so, so rare for us out here in the desert and as you can tell, the kids were totally taking advantage of it! The skies were so gray and it was so late in the day that the quality of these is so not “photographer like,” but hey, they are my kids and I want to share!!

So take them for what they are…snapshots!!

Now THIS is how I picture Gentry…not like the pics in the post below, but just like this. Orneriness just flows through this child of ours!

Turkey Dinner!

Believe it or not, I was all set to update each and every day this week. I had my posts all planned out in my mind and everything! And then it happened…I got bit by the flu bug!! I was out of commission most of the day both Tuesday and Wednesday, but I am back in the swing of things today! Thank goodness! Let me just say I was REALLY sick! And although it didn’t stop Gentry from peeing her pants six times a day, the countless fights or messes, the kids knew something was very wrong when I started throwing up over and over again and yelled for Huntler to bring me the phone so we could call Daddy to come home and rescue them!! {I would say to rescue me, but I could take care of myself as long as the kids were taken care of!!}
I haven’t been that sick in a long time and I most certainly am not wanting to go there again any time soon! Yuck. I hate to even think about it! BUT…on the bright side, I am feeling better and got to enjoy a yummy Thanksgiving meal with my little family this afternoon!!
And speaking of Thanksgiving dinner…
Here is my favorite little man enjoying a beater!! I made some strawberry jello and let the kids have the beaters when I was done! You can bet they were lovin’ that!!
Photobucket

And another one of Huntler. {You’ll have to excuse the bad lighting…he was sitting at the table and the wall behind him is yellow and it NEVER does good things for pictures!! That is why these are both black and white!!}

Photobucket
And then there is the child who loves ALL food! We can BARELY get Huntler to eat enough to stay healthy and Gentry shovels it in!!
Photobucket
She looks so different in this one to me!! Don’t you think? She reminds me SO much of my niece here for some reason!! I am sure it is because her mouth is closed and that is such a rare thing for her!
Photobucket
So there is that! We watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this morning while we were cooking and one of the kids totally got into it and the other did not. Any guesses? Huntler was absolutely NOT interested. At all. If it doesn’t have to do with trains, he could care less. But Gentry LOVED it!! “Mommy, let’s dance.” “Look Mommy. Look.” She was really into all of the music and the floats! I think Sesame Street and the Care Bears were her faves!! Silly, silly girl!
The original plan was to be setting up our tree right about now, but Chris has got his heart set on loading up the fam and heading out to a tree farm (yes, they have those here in the desert) tomorrow and cutting one down. We have always had a real one, but last year my parents gave us their very nice artificial one. It was a PAIN to set up and apparently Chris doesn’t want to do that again!! {So Mom, there is our answer from our chat this morning!!} Plus, he is just used to real ones. His grandparents had a Christmas tree farm the entire time he was growing up and it is something that is important to him. So anyway, I guess tomorrow we’ll venture out and see what happens!!
Before I got so sick on Tuesday, Gentry and I went out for a photo shoot in some citrus trees while Huntler was at school!! I have some really cute shots from that, but I’ll wait and share those in one of my next posts!!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!! {This is where I would normally get all deep on  ya, but I am still not 100% yet and just not up for it!}

Rare…

It is no secret that I am a lot obsessed with photography…I LOVE IT! That being said, I prefer to be behind the camera. And although I will take hundreds of shots to get that “perfect one” and freeze little moments in time in the lives of my kids, I avoid being in photos at all costs!! But then I look through the albums and I can count on one hand how many I am in. Not that I love to look at myself by any means, but I know I’ll regret not being visible in so many moments one of these days…I already do.

So this morning I did something I pretty much never do! I put my 24-70 mm lens on my camera, zoomed it all the way out, turned the camera on myself and started snapping. I had no trouble whatsoever getting Gentry to pose with me…she is quite a little ham {no surprise there!} in front of the camera! She kept saying “cheese” over and over again! I have no idea where she learned that! I never have the kids say anything when I take their pictures!! Anyway, it was fun. We giggled, snuggled and laughed…
And although these images are FAR from perfect, they could not be more perfect in my eyes. There is love. There is happiness. There is realness. {There is also a “me” who happens to need a hair cut desperately and could stand to lose 10 pounds…but who is keeping track of all that?}
Photobucket
I am sure he is thinking, “This is so lame Mom!!” He only had time to pose for about five frames and then he had to get back to work building his track!
Photobucket
But this one? She had nothing better to do than put about a million little rubber bands on her finger and watch me get ready and then pose with me. This is what she does every day while I am getting ready {well, not the posing part!}…she sits up on the counter beside me and plays in something…sometimes my makeup, sometimes rubber bands, sometimes nail polish…whatever mess I feel like cleaning up that day!!
Photobucket
And then there is this one…taken by Huntler!! Not too bad!! I had the camera strap around his neck so he didn’t accidentally drop it and I was actually hanging on to the lens in this picture! That is my “big lens” and it is heavy for me after a while, I can only imagine how it felt for him!
Photobucket
How many rubber bands do you suppose are on her finger?!! A LOT! I took her to get her hair trimmed up on Saturday and the stylist fixed it SO cute!! I had to pick up a pack of these bright rubber bands at Wally World so I could try it myself! I managed to do it today but it is already a mess! One of these days I’ll have to take some pictures! {I added some grain…can you tell?}
Photobucket
I don’t have all that many ideas for the kids for Christmas this year. They already have SO much and the majority of their toys don’t even get played with. And let’s not even think about the TONS and TONS of stuff I loaded up and hauled off to the consignment shop a couple of months ago. I am “over” the idea that I have to buy every new toy that comes out. So this year we are doing things a bit different! Huntler only wants trains…big surprise! So I made a list of some of the many he does NOT have and that is what he will be getting. Gentry? I am at a loss on her. She loves dolls and babies and all of that, but really, how many dolls can one have? I am wondering if she is big enough to get into the Littlest Pet Shop or Polly Pocket or anything like that? Something that she can grow with and won’t be bored of in six weeks. Any ideas?!
Anyway…I am rambling. I decided that I wanted them to have digital cameras of their own since they both seem to love mine so much!! I found them at Wal Mart on Saturday and they were even on sale for $48 each!! YAY!! Click here and here to see them closer!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Lisa already warned me that I will not be impressed with the quality, but that’s okay! That is what my camera is for!! And this way they can take their own pictures and I won’t be a nervous wreck!!
Okay, well I am wanting to wrap up a bunch of hair flowers today and move on to another project! I have a list a mile long! So, I am going to head out and get to work!!
Happy Monday on this HOLIDAY WEEK!! YAY!!

It’s All About the Location!

Miss me?! One might think I suddenly had a full time job or another child…neither is true. I have just be incredibly busy the last month or so! I always have big plans of updating my blog with a little something or another each and every day, but more often than not lately, the days are getting away from me and there are no updates! Yikes! I’ll work on doing better this week!
So, since my last update on Wednesday, things have been busy, busy, busy! You know, the usual. Breaking up numerous fights, dragging out the Resolve and scrubbing the carpet 15 times because Gentry has suddenly decided {after doing well for a few days} that she is too lazy to go to the bathroom to pee so she just goes wherever, working on Christmas gifts, lots of other randomness I won’t bore you with…and a trip to the outlet mall!  YAY!!!!
Yesterday morning I loaded up the munchkins and we headed out for a little bit of shopping fun and a whole lotta park fun! We hit up this park which was AMAZING!!!! It was quite a haul to get there from our house, but boy was it fun!! We fed some ducks a few of our fries, rode the train and the kids played for TWO hours!! As great as it was, I really don’t recommend going down a small tube slide that has a horrid turn at the bottom to anyone over 10 years old who is toting a purse, camera and child. Now I know why my kids have issues with them…they really are NOT all that fun!! I definitely came out in worse shape than I went in!!
This has to be my favorite shot of the day…he is so genuinely happy!! I showed the kids the pictures of the park on the computer before we left yesterday morning {they needed to know WHERE they got to go if they were good while Mommy did a little shopping at the Gymboree outlet!!} and Huntler could hardly contain himself! Apparently the train looked like Edward to him and he wanted to ride on his coal tender!! Anyway, he was on cloud nine, as you can imagine!! He was beaming the ENTIRE ride!! And Gentry was pretty excited too, but she had to hang on to one {just one} of my fingers for the trek!
Photobucket

So after a long and exhausting day {we were gone for hours!!} I stopped here on the way home. I saw this little piece of fabulousness on our way, but I was on a mission so I waited until we were on our way home to check it out!!

Meet my newly found picture taking paradise {minus the trash…I snapped these from the car once I was back in after checking it out}!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
It may not look like much to the hundreds of people who drive by it each and every day, but let me just tell you that I fell in love with this place…it reminds me so much of Kansas! I keep calling it a “place” because I don’t really know what it is!! A bunch of rustic, weather, tattered wood with ancient fence posts and tall grasses {weeds} out in the middle of vast expanses of desert with mountains in the background!! Oh and there are cactus too {found some prickles in my pants cuff last night — OUCH!}. And probably home to rattle snakes, lizards and scorpions as well. And large rocks. I may or may not have ran over a rather large rock that made a horrible clunk underneath the mini van {startling the kids and me} while driving through the desert to get here. I’ll let you be the judge of that one!!
I absolutely can NOT wait to take the kids out here! But, I do have to wait until after Christmas! I got Gentry this dress at the outlet {for Christmas…but she was wearing it around after we got home yesterday…she is only two, she’ll forget how much she loved it!!} and it totally strikes me as a “Sassy Cowgirl” dress with the denim and her pink boots. Hello cuteness!! {Sorry it is so tiny…I took it off of a website and that is as big as it gets! But aren’t the buttons fun?!}
Photobucket
There will also be some polka dot leggings involved and a green shirt under the dress…and the boots of course!! I can hardly contain myself with all of the ideas I have!! And no worries…Huntler got a dapper little sweater that will look great too, but I can’t find it anywhere online!!
So the Christmas jammies from a couple of posts ago made it this week too! I got really lucky and it looks as if they will both fit! The shirts will be snug, but that is just the style. Funny thing…my kids only wear the really loose fitted pajamas…never the tight ones. Is that weird? What do your kids wear? After Gentry was somehow mistaken for a boy last year at the Polar Express I will most definitely be making her some fabulous hair accessories to match! She most certainly looks {and acts} 110% girl, but I have something really unique in mind I want to give a try!! It won’t be this week though…maybe over the long holiday weekend!!
I guess I should get back to work! Sis and I ran errands and were out for about 5 hours today and I got NOTHING done!! So, I need to make the most of this next hour I have before I crash myself!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!

Do You Ever?

Do you ever have those days when it is just 10:00 AM and you find yourself wishing your drink was spiked? Please tell me I am not the only one!! I most definitely had one of those days today!!

Huntler was completely off today as he was up until after 11:00 last night. I think I must have fallen asleep before him? Anyway, it was totally my fault because he fell asleep around 4:00 yesterday afternoon and I let him sleep until 6:00. It doesn’t take rocket science to realize that he was simply not tired at bedtime. But BOY was he tired this morning. When he finally woke up for good at 10:00 (this was after several spells of hysteria in the night and early morning hours) he was just plain cranky. He never really snapped out of it all day. Believe me, he will be in bed early tonight!!

Anyway, I am going to enjoy my break! Chris and the kids just ran to the dry cleaner so I am soaking up this half an hour of me time!! Better check some blogs!!

Ten on Tuesday!

Since I haven’t blogged in several days, I thought I would do a “Ten on Tuesday” post and let you all in on the chaos that has been my life the last few days!!

1. Chris’ grandpa and his soon to be wife came to visit us over the weekend! They were heading back to Kansas and made a detour to stop off and see us! The kids loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND of their visit. Papa Roof {his name is Ralph but Huntler and Gentry call him Roof!!} even got on the hard tile floor and played trains like a champ!!
2. Gentry got the flu over the weekend. She woke up crying at 4:00 AM on Sunday. I ignored her for the first few minutes thinking she would go back to sleep. When she didn’t, I got up and made a bathroom stop before checking on her. I’ll spare you the details, but the second I walked into her room I could see that she had puked everywhere. I yelled across at Chris to come get her and give her a bath while I got started on the mess that was her bed. Ughh. LOTS of laundry. She proceeded to throw up off and on until 7:00 AM and ran a slight fever, but was pretty much fine after that.
3. I have read all your input and pondered the whole logo situation for days now, but I think I am going to keep it as is. It seems pretty equal as far as those who may have had some trouble reading it versus those who had no trouble. My email with “Hissyfits” in a plain font will be on my business cards and in other places so I think the confusion should be minimal. I checked the font and it does not have capital letters.
4. I have TONS of Christmas projects to work on!! YIKES!! Some digital, some crafty!! Both fun!
5. I have also been working on some special little custom orders for hair pretties! I need another me!!
6. Christmas milk. Do you know what this is?!! Egg Nog in adult terms, but to Huntler it is Christmas milk! The jug has red and green all over it and is very festive!! Anyway,  you know those “Got Milk?” adds? The mustache? My kids TOTALLY get little mustaches from Egg Nog. We are having a photo shoot tomorrow it is so darn cute!! Now another little secret. I don’t like milk…at all. So I just assumed I didn’t like Egg Nog either. Ummm, hello! I had a little sip this afternoon and it was quite tasty if I do say so myself! I don’t think I will be chugging it anytime soon, but I may just have to have a glass from time to time!!
7. Huntler brought home his first little homework assignment from school today! It is a turkey printed on copy paper. We are to cut out said turkey and jazz him up so he no longer looks like a turkey, but like a dog or a boat or a character of some sort! I have a slight inkling that Huntler’s turkey will be heading back to school next week looking very “train-like!!”
8. Here is a recipe for THE BEST potato soup you will ever eat!! Back in Kansas they have Panera Bread…we had one super close to our house. Our here? Nada. They do have a Paradise Bakery but it is no Panera. Anyway, I LOVE Panera’s Baked Potato Soup. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I could eat it every day of the week in fact…I love it that much! My sweet husband, recognizing that I have sacrificed oodles to move out here, was a true gem and searched the web over to find this recipe! And because we made it last weekend and then again this past weekend and because I ate it for supper tonight and have been eating it for days and will eat it until it is gone…I want to share!!
Ingredients
4 cups chicken broth
4 cups potatoes, peeled and cut into medium sized chunks
1/4 cup onions, minced
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
8 ounces cream cheese, cut into chunks
Directions
1. Combine broth, potatoes, onion and spices.
2. Boil on medium heat until potatoes are tender.
3. Smash a few of the potatoes to release their starch for thickening.
4. Reduce to low heat.
5. Add cream cheese.
6. Heat, stirring frequently, until cheese melts.
Just thought I would also share that when we made this a couple of weeks ago, it served the four of us. The kids don’t eat much though!! So, if you are wanting leftovers, I highly recommend making more!! Which is what we did over the weekend! However, we didn’t need all the broth and had to add potato flakes to thicken it up how we like it! Enjoy!
9. Gentry seems to be back on track with pottying! YAY!! It was a rough week last week but she seems to be back in the swing of things this week!
10. Gymboree came out with their new line yesterday. It is very fun! All things candy? Seriously, I can so do that! And if you know Gentry, she can too!! Here are just a couple of my faves!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
That being said, I just called the Gymbo outlet and they have received the Cupcake Cutie line from last year and should have it out on Thursday! WAHOOOOOOOO!!!! Although I do love a LOT of this sweet candy goodness, that cupcake stuff is SOOO STINKIN’ CUTE! Gentry asks to wear her cupcake skirt every other day!! I need that in the next three sizes I think, don’t you?!
And because Chris is doing puzzles with the kids, I am adding in a bonus two!!
11. The Splatter and Dodge trains I was watching sold on E-bay tonight for $46. Huntler saw the pic on my blog over the weekend and I had to print it out for him! I was trying to keep him in the dark about these guys so he wouldn’t know what he was missing! He seemed okay with the print out!!
12. We are experiencing record breaking heat out here. Are you kidding me? It is November 18 for pete’s sake and still 87 degrees? I won’t even get started with my griping!
Okay…I HOPE to get out with my kiddos tomorrow and take some pictures! I haven’t picked up my camera in a week and I am missing it!!

Christmas Jammies

First of all, I want to thank everyone for their kind words and all the fabulous comments {and emails} about my photo shoot with Gentry and my new photography venture! Just out of curiosity, did anyone have trouble reading the logo? It was brought to my attention that the “H” may look like an “M.” I of course don’t see that, but I also know what it says!! Let me know if you had any trouble reading it!!
Okay, so each year since Huntler was born we have bought the kids “special” Christmas jammies! As in, slightly expensive yet super cute, jammies! Although Carter’s are my absolute faves when it comes to everyday pj’s, they just don’t have what I am after when it comes to Christmas! After just a couple of stops on my “internet shopping trip,” I found what I wanted at Gap. How incredibly cute are these?!!
Photobucket

Photobucket

I happen to have a 30% off coupon code so I even scored these great jammies at a discount!! Now let’s just hope I ordered the right size! It always scares me to order online because you NEVER know how things are going to fit! I mean, Gentry was wearing her size 6-12 month Gap pajamas from her first Christmas last winter still!! But it seems to me like Gap runs small in everything else?!! Who knows! Once I have them in my hot little hands I am going to whip her up some matching hair accessories! She and Huntler had the exact same pair of pajamas last year and someone thought she was a BOY on the Polar Express! Are you kidding me? She looked nothing like a boy!!
Anyway, I have been trying to stay off the computer (shopping wise anyway) because if I don’t SEE all this fabulous stuff, then I don’t know what I am missing out on! This troubled economy is putting some kinks in my shopping life!! However, I was clicking around on Gap’s site and came across a couple of other fun goodies that made it into and out of my shopping cart several times, but eventually I checked out without getting them!
Although these hats are DARLING, really, we live in the desert. When are they going to need fur? Like twice a winter. So, I once again exerted some self control and left them there for someone else! That being said, if either Grandma is interested in getting the munchkins these hats for Christmas, I am completely okay with that! I’ll even provide you with the sizes…and the discount code if you order in the next couple of days!!
Photobucket
Photobucket
However, I did end up getting this hat and matching scarf for Huntler. I like it WAY better than the hat I got him earlier this week at The Children’s Place, so I am taking that stuff back.
Photobucket
So speaking of Christmas, I got this “ingenious” idea this morning that I would try to find Splatter and Dodge for Huntler. If you don’t have a kiddo into Thomas and Friends, you probably have NO clue who these guys are, but they are the trusty friends of Diesel 10. Just so happens that Diesel 10 is Huntler’s all time favorite train. He eats with him, sleeps with him, takes him to school {but leaves him in the car} and hauls him all over creation. As I type, the kids and Chris are at the store and Diesel 10 was stuffed in Huntler’s pocket!! His partner in crime changes daily {because two trains are more fun to carry around than one}, but Diesel 10 stays the same!
Anyway, Huntler has a couple of other trains that he “pretends” are Splatter and Dodge. And he is fine with that. I really don’t think he even knows we could actually get the real ones!! Well, we COULD get them if we want to pay an arm and a leg!! Hello!!
Photobucket
They are both retired and extremely hard to find!! Obviously…I was on E-bay today and the new in box sets are selling for a fortune! As in one set sold for $192 and another one is listed at $109. The used ones (such as this picture) are selling upwards of $40! This is for the wooden ones…there was a set of die cast guys that sold for just $20 a couple of weeks ago. I can do $20…maybe even a tiny bit more {it is for Christmas after all!}, but $109??? So, I guess if anyone out there just happens to have a Splatter and Dodge just laying around, let me know!! I know one little boy who would love to see them come Christmas morning!!
Well, on that crazy note I should get! Chris’ grandpa is coming to stay for the weekend and will be getting here soon. I am not sure what we have planned for the weekend, but I probably won’t be on the computer too much!! Hope you all have a great weekend though and I’ll be back soon!

Tears and Boo Boo’s

Just so you know…it isn’t all fun and games around here all the time! Believe me. We have our fair share of meltdowns and moments of frustration!!
Here is a photo of Huntler from Tuesday. We were outside playing that afternoon and he got really upset. I can’t even remember what his problem was as I type this, but he was not a happy camper. So here he is crying and carrying on and I am snapping pictures! Does that make me a bad mom?!!
Anyway, I am really working with textures…trying to make them as smooth as possible…meaning that they are more faded around the person and the person doesn’t look like he was just painted on! It is a really delicate balance! So let me know what you think on this one!!
Photobucket

And then there is Gentry. We had a WONDERFUL morning. No accidents, no meltdowns, just a great time. Huntler was at school and she played with some of my craft goodies and was just good. We even went outside for awhile. And then it happened. We were back inside getting lunch and as she was making her way toward the toy box she tripped over a trike and busted her lip. She was in instant hysterics and as soon as she calmed down enough for me to check her lip, it was already HUGE! Poor girl!!

Photobucket

{Excuse the horrid lighting! I snapped this while she was sitting at the table at lunch!!}
Happy Thursday!

It’s Official…

I meant to post yesterday because I feel like I have so much to say, but the day just got away from me! The kids and I loaded up and headed to The Children’s Place first thing yesterday morning in search of some winter wear and then the rest of the day just flew by! The temperature has dropped out here in the desert and we are freezing!! I vividly remember some friends of my parents who lived out here for a few years and when they moved back to Kansas they were miserable! I specifically remember seeing them in Wal Mart one time right around Christmas and the wife was wearing ear warmers! We didn’t think it was all that cold, but she was freezing! I TOTALLY get that now!! Anyway…sorry for that little tangent!!

First of all {because I am extremely excited to finally be sharing this!!}…I am taking the plunge!! I am taking my love for photography to the next level and starting up my own little business! I know it will take time to build and maybe by the time my kids are both in school full time, it will have taken off!
Here is my fabulous new logo!! Whatcha think? I LOVE IT! The colors, the name, the concept…all of it!!
Photobucket
I wish I could say that I designed it, and although my Photoshop skills have improved dramatically, I am far from being able to create things at this level! I worked with the fabulous Tracy at Sugar Lime Designs. She was so patient with me throughout my numerous emails to her. I even totally changed my mind {and added the lollipop!} after she had already created a super cute design for me! But she didn’t bail! We kept working until we got the lolly how I wanted it! I will say that Chris and I did some of our own editing and changed the font and made some other minor adjustments to make it more “me”, but the lollipop is all her! There may be a few more tweaks before I start printing this, but nothing too major!!
It all seems a bit surreal to me. I was thinking about my business cards and such and on them it will say, “On Location Natural Light Photographer.” I have been simply “Mommy” for so long that having another “title” so to speak is just so foreign to me!! I guess when I got my degree in Sociology and entered the work force {for all of 11 months!}, it felt natural to be called a “Family Support Worker.” I mean, I had studied for four years and had a degree in it after all! With photography, there is no degree. No formal education. No pass or fail. But there is passion, a desire to learn more and improve with each shoot. Not to mention I LOVE it!!
As for the business name, I have to give credit to one of the moms in our playgroup! She had been shopping at a store called “Hissyfits” and casually mentioned it. It was like a lightbulb went off in my mind and I KNEW that was perfect for me! Since my love is photographing kids and I never foresee myself shooting weddings or taking a different path, I went with it! It is such a fun and playful name!
So…there is that!! Wish me luck over the next few months as I see where this goes!! And if you happen live around here and want to book a session, let me know! I am building my portfolio and would love to add some new faces to it!! My website is in the works and once it is up and running I’ll post a link to it as well!! {One major issue is that the web colors are not nearly as bright and cheery as I want them and the whole design is not so catchy because of that! AHHH!! Why can’t anything be easy?!!}
Now…back to the shopping!! We only hit one store…I purposefully avoided the mall since I didn’t want to deal with the temptation of Pumpkin Patch and Gymboree! {Although, as soon as Gymbo comes out with their new candy line, I have a feeling I’ll be online ordering!!} The Children’s Place actually had some super cute things and great deals!! The poor kids only had jeans…no windpants or velour or anything comfortable, so I needed to get them some long sleeved stuff and some comfy stuff! And since I love to share, here are a few of the things I picked up!
First of all, how stinkin’ cute is this going to be for pictures? EVERYTHING I buy I think in terms of photos! Is that bad?
Photobucket
They had a matching sweater, scarf and gloves but I exerted some rare self control! Plus, I found this sweater that I liked better anyway!!
Photobucket

And this one! They are both sparkly and shimmery and oh so fun!!
Photobucket
And then for my dapper little fella…this SUPER snuggly sweater!!
Photobucket
And if sissy gets a hat, well, Huntler must have one too! Here is the boy version…and he got the scarf too! Last year he became OBSESSED with scarves somehow and looked SO darn cute in them!! Of course, he was wearing Chris’ and it was WAY too big, so now he has one of his own!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Huntler also scored two pair of windpants, two shirts to go with the said windpants and a pair of jeans!! Since we all know that most boy clothes aren’t qui
te as cute and fun as girl clothes, I’ll spare ya! Plus, I couldn’t find either of the shirts on their site anyway!!
I SO LOVE this time of year!! I love the fact that it is no longer 90+ degrees and it is getting dark early! Now, we are having major trouble getting up in the morning because it is staying dark longer AND it is so darn cold in our  house {it is getting down to about 73 inside overnight…we have yet to turn our heat on}, but I am loving every second of it! Not loving the sickness though. Poor Gentry girl is still battling a nasty nose and cough.
Okay…moving along since I am so full of it this morning! As far as those hair lollies go that I posted Monday. I am by far no expert, but if I created a little tutorial and posted it, would anyone be interested? I am not saying my way is the right way or the only way {or anything like that}, but if someone desperately wants to create some of these gems, I am happy to share my method! Or, let me know and I can make a set for you!!
On another random note…Christmas cards!! YAY!! Have you ordered yours yet?!! I have!! Well, I am actually going to have two different ones this year, but the first set has been ordered and received and the second set has been designed (thanks Lacey!!) and is waiting in a file folder on my desktop for me to get everything else I want organized and my print order sent off!!
Anyway, the first set came from Peapod Announcements. I absolutely adore this little shop! This was my third order from them and just as the case with the other two, the cards are amazing and the service was phenomenal!
Here is just a sample of one of my faves…but this is not the one I ordered {I don’t want to ruin the surprise for those that will actually be getting a card!!}! If you are wanting a different color scheme or something different on it, just let Heather know…she can work with you to get the design tailored to fit your style!! She offers a wide variety of other cards too…be sure to check her out!!

And I can’t mention cards without also mentioning my good friend Laura! She quit her job over the summer to stay home with her new little guy {Barrett} and has since been working to build her stationary business as well! She is a super sweet friend and I know you will not be disappointed if you work with her either!

And one more thing I keep forgetting to mention! If you have been following along for awhile now, you know my obsession with The Bachelor. LOVE that show! So, I was online a couple of weeks ago (on People) and saw that Jesse and Deanna had broken up! HOLY COW!!! I can’t say I was too shocked, but I guess I was? I can’t find the original story I saw, but here is another one!
Whew!! I guess I better get off the computer and on to cleaning up this wreck!! Knock on wood that it is noon and Gentry has not had an accident yet today! YAY! And Huntler slept in until 9:30 and then ate TWO breakfasts…I think he must be growing!! He generally eats like a bird and is up at the crack of dawn!!

Fabric Flowers and Other Fun Goodies!

Awhile back my sweet friend Julie posted a tutorial on her blog for fabric flowers. Although I thought they were a fabulous idea, life got crazy {as always} and I didn’t get around to creating any until a few weeks later. And now let me just say that the more I make, the more creative I get and the more fun they are!!
Here are the ones I have made so far! I am thinking that I have to stop making so many for Gentry and start making some gifts!! I mean, really, how many hair flowers can a girl wear?!! Or maybe the fact is that my fabric selection needs some other colors…blues, greens, purples!! I have a whole lot of pink!!

I am pretty sure you cannot tell from the picture, but the red and white polka dot ones are felt!! I was sorting through my craft stuff about a month ago and came across that fun felt that I have had for years and put it to use! I must say that I LOVE how full the felt makes them!! {Just keep in mind you can NOT cover a button with felt…it is too thick so make sure you have matching fabric!!} Those and the pink and black ones with tulle would have to be my faves!! On the next pink and black set I am going to use WAY more tulle though!! FUN!!
So I mentioned last week that the little wheels in my mind are already turning on ideas for Miss Gentry’s birthday…in eight months. Yes, I know it is a LONG ways off, but when you think ahead, you can find some great stuff! Especially when the theme is Candyland and all the Christmas goodies are out!!
I ran into Hobby Lobby on Saturday for just a couple of things and “happened” by the Christmas aisles. How can you not?! The entire front of the store is all jazzed up! Anyway, I had originally planned for her second birthday to be the Candyland party so last year at Christmas I found some cute little gingerbread man straws and some fun gumdrop ornaments that I snatched up for decor! While out and about on Saturday, I hit the jackpot! Really, it was just one item, but they were on sale and will be a great addition to the bash!

I got eight of these little lollies for just $1!! Holy cow! I bought three packages {a whopping $3} because they will make excellent additions to the favors! Can’t you just see one tied on to each little bucket?!!
And while chatting about lollies and all things party, here are the two sets of lollipop clips I have made. I wasn’t sure if they were too big or not so I had to wait until yesterday when I actually had them in her hair to decide…and they are perfect! So now I can whip up some more of those too! I first saw some on Etsy and that is where I found my inspiration!! They are so easy and fun to make and the color combos are endless!! I will DEFINITELY be making these for all the little girls at the party!!

Excuse all the pics…I am not a fan of taking pictures of stuff! And I am not good at it either!!
So it seems as though we have taken GIANT steps backwards with Gentry and potty training. It all started with “the incident” on Friday at Barnes and Noble and is not getting better. Aside from a tiny little accident here and there for the last month, she has done GREAT. Now she just pees whenever and wherever and it doesn’t even phase her. I have washed a TON of extra laundry this weekend and had to scrub the carpet as well. I am SO frustrated! I know she is just two, but she had this down!! What happened?! I kinda think it has something to do with her not feeling well, but seriously? This is like we are starting back at square one again!! AHHHH!!!
Okay…instead of putting laundry away this weekend I piled it up. And now there is a ton of stuff to hang and put away. Guess that means I better get to it!!
*Be sure to scroll down if you haven’t been on in a couple of days! There are some super fun pics of Miss Gentry below!*
Happy Monday!
