First Born

This one. He is my first born. My little man. My amazingly sweet boy with a heart of gold. He is upstairs snuggled in my bed watching Elf as I type…no doubt a good eight trains surrounding him. I should be up there with him…the dreary gray skies that loom just beyond the windows are telling me so. Oh to be warm and toasty and watching a movie while the raindrops fall ever so softly. Sounds absolutely perfect other than the tiny little fact that I have seen Elf more times this Christmas season than I have all others combined – I think I’ll pass on this viewing!

In my last post I mentioned that I was in a rush as we had Huntler’s school Christmas program to attend that evening. We went. We watched. We smiled and clapped. We stood there amongst the throngs of other proud parents with cameras flashing and video cameras rolling. And I cried. I cried. Just at the beginning…as he was walking up to his assigned position on the risers. I mean, this was his first program after all…the emotion just hit me. It is hard to believe that the little guy who turned two just days after arriving out here is now four. He is enrolled in preschool and thriving. He is growing up…before my very eyes.

As soon as he reached his “spot” for the program, his eyes started scanning the crowd. He was looking for us! He knew we were staying…we had prepared him for how it would go and let him know that we were going to be out in the crowd with sissy watching him sing! I guess it just seemed so strange that he knew to look for us! Anyway, Chris and I could both tell the instant he found us! His entire face lit up and he waved. Okay…so maybe I waved first, but he waved back! I know it won’t be too long and he’ll be utterly humiliated that we are even at his functions, let alone waving!! But how sweet it was. How sweet it was. It was one of those moments in life that will be forever embedded in my heart and memory. I am fighting back the tears just thinking about it!

Here is just one shot…we got there REALLY late and seating was limited {to say the least} and we had to stand…at the very back. We’ll know better next year! I did move up close for some pictures, but of course Huntler happened to be on the very end and there were people in the way!! Such is my luck!!

And as promised here are a few from our photo shoot in the citrus grove last weekend!! I got SO SO many great ones, but I am just sharing a few of my faves of Huntler this afternoon! Like everyone else out there, I have a million things I need to get done with the holidays right around the corner and I simply haven’t had time to edit any other than these!

I adore this shot!! Chris was standing just out of the frame and Huntler was smiling at him!

In completely random news, I had to trek to the post office today to mail off the shoes I sold on Ebay. I had to giggle because all of the shoes combined didn’t sell for as much as the faux fur boots. I KNEW they were cute and they are hard to find so I wasn’t overly surprised, but they sold for more than I paid for them! Gotta love supply and demand! Anyway, we attempted to hit the post office at 12:30 this afternoon…BAD BAD BAD timing! Every single parking space was filled and cars were parked out on a side street! Holy moly!! So we went to McDonald’s for a lovely lunch and of course to play in the play area and we headed back to the post office! It was still busy, but the line moved unbelievably fast! And the shoes are mailed off! As are the last couple of Christmas cards that were missing from the big group! YAY!

Alright…Chris will be home in less than an hour and our house is trashed!! I have no idea what happened to today, but it is almost gone!! So I should probably go pretend like I was super productive and got all sorts of things done! Too bad he reads this and will know my secrets!!

Oh how sweet! I’m tearing up thinking of you tearing up…and how I will be in those same shoes with my little man before I even know it! Crazy!!

Great pictures too :) I’ve been to the post office almost every day this past week! Sold stuff on Ebay and lots of invite orders to ship! I’m glad I don’t have to travel as far as you! You should try the print shipping labels at home and your USPS carrier will pick them up!

I’m tearing up too! I remember Bailey doing that same program last year. You really have a way with words. I always have to make sure I read your blog alone so no one sees my cry like a baby!

    Love,

    Mistie

I know what you mean about those Christmas programs. I’ve turned into that sappy mother that I promised myself I’d never become! :)

By the way, I love Huntler’s outfit! He looks so stylish and grown-up!
