For Granted…

So if you have been following along for any amount of time, you know that I am pretty much always in a good mood. My posts, although very real, are generally pretty lighthearted. That is me. That is my life. And although I am not truly happy here, I am not truly miserable either. Does that make ANY sense whatsoever?! I am trying to make the most out of it, ya know? I mean, despite the heat, the dirt, the dust, the scorpions, and the sweltering sun, there are things to love about my life here in the desert. I mean, had we never moved out here, I never would have had the opportunity to meet some amazing mamas…the girls I call my friends. My life will forever be enriched because of the impact that each and every one of them has had on me at a time when I needed them the most. So thank you to Kelly and Mistie {who have already moved on}. And thank you to Jessica, Lindsey, Rachel and the rest of you great girls whom I have come to know and love. I am so, so blessed to have each and every one of you in my life.

That being said, I am pretty much having a terrible week. It is only Tuesday…believe me, I know. But sometimes you can just tell these things, ya know? In about a 30 minute time span this morning I managed to spill Huntler’s cereal all over the floor, had to wipe away tears while talking to his teacher and then officially broke down and cried my eyes out at Chris’ office. And after I thought I had cried as much as I needed to, I found myself forcing back the tears time and time again as the morning wore on. It is just one of those weeks.
So what is a girl to do when it seems as though the weight of the world is on her shoulders you ask? Why load up her favorite Gentry girl and participate in a little retail therapy of course!! There is nothing better than a ribbon sale at Michael’s! Especially when the designs are all brand spanking new and the colors are so bright and cheery you simply have to smile!

And when you happen to have six pregnant friends and two other friends that just had baby girls, you buy pretty little boxes to stick their gifts in!! I SO love these kind of things for baby gifts! There were some darling boy ones too, but I happen to have a couple of other boy boxes already stashed away so I exerted some self control!!

So that was the damage I did while at Michael’s. Plus a couple of HUGE, over the top flowers to make into headbands for Gentry. We were really just wasting time while waiting for Pier 1 to open…we would have been better off waiting in the car or outside!

{I was looking for a bright, woven type blanket in Pier 1 that I have seen on COUNTLESS photographers websites. I struck out.}

And since we still had an hour left until we needed to pick up Huntler from school, Gentry girl and I stopped at Kohl’s. Can I just tell you that I LOVE that store?! They have the most fun household goodies and 90% of the time their clothing selection is awesome! I don’t think I ever leave without buying something. Today was no different!!

Check out how CUTE these little capri pants are!! Green with white polka dots?!! And navy, pink and white diamond-ish shapes?! I am so glad that Gentry still wears a 24 month or 2T in shorts and pants because these were in the baby section that only goes up to 24 months! WHEW!! But, her shirts came from the big girl {as in bigger than toddler} section! Please tell me that other people’s kids wear different sizes!

And one last bit of shopping happiness to share! Have you seen this new Gymboree stuff yet?

It was so thoughtful of them to come out with pretty much an entire line I adore just in time for me to redeem my Gymbucks. I mean, really, I would have been perfectly fine if they would have come out with something less my style! I am sure my husband would too!!

So if you are still following along through all that, here are a couple of pics of the munchkins from when we were back in Kansas for Christmas! Lisa, I am sure you are thinking, “Oh my, she has turned into one of those bloggers who ONLY blogs about stuff and never shares pictures of her kids anymore!!” Believe me, I have not!! I just haven’t taken any of my kids worth sharing since we got back from our Christmas trip!! We have been out and about but I have been leaving my camera at home so that I can actually enjoy myself and my sweets!!

So here they are…my silly boy, my sassy girl and my adorable family. I am so, so grateful for each of them. So grateful for the happiness they bring to my days during weeks like this one. So grateful for the constant reminder that although I am having a rough go of it, there is most certainly someone out there who is having a much worse day than me. Grateful for the reminder that even though he isn’t the most romantic of guys, my husband does love me…more than I know. I have an email in my inbox right now from him saying just that! And ya know what? I love him more than he knows too.

You are currently re-living the week I just had. I am so sorry to hear how difficult things are right now. Isn’t it weird how some silly ribbon can make all things right in the world? Hoping for sunshine to head your way.
    Adorable pics too!
    That cupcake beanie is edible!

    Bethany,

Thanks for the sweet note. I am sorry you are having a bad week. This too shall pass…

Having moved so often ourselves, I do understand how wonderful it is to be able to meet a friend whom you can count on…even after you both have moved on again.

I feel lucky to have met you. Thanks for your friendship in the past and future.

I love keeping up with you and your family. My best to all the girls in AZ.

    Kelly

Sorry to hear you are having a bad week. I almost called you this afternoon but ended up getting a litte nap with Avery. And no, I wasn’t thinking you were turning into one of “those” -eh hem bloggers. I was really thinking, “There she goes drowning her sorrows in shopping again. Dang! Wish I was there to sympathy shop” :) I do love the ribbon and don’t even get me started on Gymboree! Hang in there girl, its bound to get better!

    love ya,
    Lisa

Oh I’m so sorry that your week is not going well. I think retail therapy definitely helps sometimes. I’m a mom of three small children. We moved a year and half ago and I’m still having a hard time with it. Hope tommorrow is better.

Sorry to hear you are having such a bad week. I’m not having the best, so know you aren’t alone. Oh, and my boys have always worn (for the most part) different size shirts than pants. Love those little dresses! Hope your week improves. Brandy Breedlove

Sorry to hear you’re having a rough week. I hope next week is better for you. Retail therapy always help me too, even if I only feel better for a few minutes, it’s totally worth it. I put in my gymbo order on Wed night. I can’t wait for it to get here. And now after reading your blog I have to pretend I don’t know there’s a ribbon sale at Michaels.
