Apparently I blinked because three years have now come and gone since this little one entered our lives. Just as with Huntler, I vividly remember driving to the hospital during the early morning hours on July 20, 2006 knowing that we were about to meet our baby girl for the first time. It replays in my mind so crystal clear. Yet, it was three years ago.
I cannot fathom a day without this little girl. She exudes personality and there is literally never a dull moment when she is awake! She is bossy. She is sassy. She can be down right mean. She loves to dance and hop…ballet moves are her current fave. She chats nonstop. She asks a bazillion questions. She calls Huntler “Hunt” and it melts my heart. She commands attention. She lights up a room. She loves to cuddle! She has what some might consider an unhealthy obsession with her binky as we have yet to get it away from her! She has her daddy wrapped around her finger! She is our Gentry girl.
One of my main goals when we were back home in Kansas a few weeks ago was to take her three year portraits. Believe me when I say I took a ton of pictures!! Because I am feeling totally overwhelmed with everything I still have to do, I am just sharing a handful! When I look at each and every one of these, I see home. The barns, the fields, the memories. The place I long so desperately to return to and raise my kids…

This is the super sweet outfit I bought from Sweet Plume especially for her photos!! This little shop has some DARLING finds!! And Gentry absolutely loves this outfit every bit as much as I do!! Gotta love my fashion girlie!

I love this next one! My parents have more props than one could ever dream of and they just “happened” to have this old church pew!! Being the good sports that they are, they loaded it up and hauled it out to this wheat field so that I could use it in the pictures! I adore Gentry’s expression in this one! What you can’t see is Papa in the background being all sorts of crazy to illicit smiles out of the little bean!

Also in their prop supply was this darling little buggy!! This is probably my favorite image out of all of them! Need I say more?

All of these but the last one were taken at my brother’s place. He and one of our cousins are renting a farm house and there are more fabulous shooting locations on their property alone than there are in the entire suburb where we live!! You think I am kidding…I assure you I am not. I am not going to be able to put my camera down once we move home because there are just so many more amazing places to shoot back in Kansas than in the desert!

Her hat and dress are both from Target. Cuteness, right?!

This last one was taken at Chris’ mom’s farm. She too lives out in the country and has equally as many great places to shoot! The first 28 years of my life, I NEVER in a million years would have pictured myself ever living out in the country. As in ever. Yet moving a million miles {or what seems like it anyway} from everything we consider home, I have changed. I have learned to appreciate the beauty in a corn field and the puffy clouds on a summer day. The barns and silos that make great backdrops. The huge, old trees that provide awesome shade for shooting in. There is truly something to be said about returning to your roots…
Sweet Gentry Girl,
It is simply unbelievable to me that you are three today. Three. As my fingers dance across the keyboard, you are across the way, snuggled in your bed with your puppy, your binky and your beloved pink “B” napping so that you will be all rested up and we can do something fun tonight in honor of your big day! In some ways your three short years have flown by and in others, time has stood still. I often look at you in sheer amazement. Daddy and I often talk about how you seemed to go from one to three when you turned two. Your chatty ways make you seem wise beyond your years. The conversations you can carry on and the questions you ask match that of a five year old, not a three year old. I so desperately want to keep you tiny forever, to freeze the hands of time. You are already getting way too big for my liking!
We love you to the moon and back sissy…

Adorable photos!!! She looks like such a big girl!!
Enjoy the desert while you can even if it’s not home. Just think 3 years down and now you are closer to going back to Kansas than staying here!
