Change of Plans!

Hey friends! So I was originally going to sell the clothes {see the post below!} as a group but have decided that I will break it up! Sooooo…if you are interested in something, let me know. The Gymbo reversible dress is gone, but the rest is still available. If you want it all, $50 and that includes shipping {which I guess to be about $10…I am so bad at that though!!}.

Happy Sunday!

Gentry’s Closet

Hi friends! Anyone wanna go on a little shopping spree in my favorite fashionista’s closet? After Gentry’s birthday I went through and pulled some things out of her closet and drawers to make room for the new! In the  near future I am also going to be pulling out her winter wear {including her coats!} to see what fits and what doesn’t, so I’ll be doing this again for sure! I think in the future I’ll organize and sort by outfit as opposed to just one big “lot” of clothes, but this time I am selling the whole group together!

I just mentioned the other day that I hate shooting in auto, but let’s be real here people, I am human and I do have two crazy kids running around! So, today I shot these in auto. The focus is off. The coloring is off. And I did NOTHING to any of these! This pile of clothes has been sitting on our dresser for two weeks now so I figured it was time I just took some pics {awful as they may be!} and get them up!! Alright…this is not everything that is included…just some so you have an idea! And just so you know, I wash everything inside out and in cold water and dry on low temp! And it is all in great shape…there are a couple of pieces that aren’t perfect and I’ll explain those as I go!

I should also mention that Gentry just turned three and is just now outgrowing all of this. Even the 18-24 month stuff. Seems crazy when she is also wearing size 5 dresses from some places, but hey, each kids and every store is different I guess?! I obviously can’t guarantee that everything would fit your sweet girl should you buy it, but I would think and hope it would?

Bermuda Shorts: Top two pair are from JC Penny’s and are 2T. The bottom two are from The Children’s Place and are 24 months. Both have matching sun hats. There are three shirts that match the pair on the left. One size 24 months and two size 3T. The 24 month shirt is bright blue and has a couple of spots but nothing really noticeable.

This little outfit is from Sam’s. It is 2T. You  may notice that the sleeves are different. I bought this outfit and Gentry wore it several times before I EVER noticed that there was some sort of imperfection there!! It is adjustable waist. And despite the sleeves, it is super cute!!

img_20741

This next set of stuff is Gymboree. Both shirts are size 3 and the shorts are 2T.

img_20791

Reversible Gymboree dress. Size 3T.

img_20841

Gymboree capris. Size 18-24 months.

img_20831

Another Sam’s outfit I fell in love with!! The pants are 18 months and the top 24 months. The pants seem big and the top small, but I guess a different shirt could always be worn with them if you wanted!

img_20861

Baby Gap denim skirt, 18-24 months. Yes, I know, Baby Gap usually runs small, but this actually still fits her! She just has lots of denim!

img_20881

Pink and white polka dotted suit is from Baby Gap, 2T. Other suit is Old Navy, 2T. Both have wear on the bum…fuzzy.

img_20891

Okay…as for the stuff I haven’t mentioned yet and didn’t take pictures of:

Colorful sundress from Kohl’s, 3T

2 Target “play” shirts, 3T

1 smocked white tank top, Target, 3T

5 white PJ tanks/undershirts, 2T/3T {Gentry mostly wore these to bed so some have stains on them}

2 nightgowns, sizes 18 months and 2T

1 pair Gymobree summer jammies, 18-24 months

I am asking $60 and that includes the shipping – payment via Paypal. First come, first serve!! Thanks so much and happy shopping!!

Not So Kitchen-ish

Let me just begin by saying that Chris certainly did not marry me for my fabulous skills in the kitchen! I am severely lacking in this department, but I am more than okay with that. I think we all have strengths and weaknesses, as well as likes and dislikes. I happen to have a major weakness as Betty Crocker, but I don’t have any desire to get better either! My loves lie in other areas!

That being said, it just isn’t feasible for Chris to work all day every day and come up with delicious dinners every night too! I try. I really do. I just flat don’t like the shopping, the planning, the preparation or the clean up involved with dinner! Yeah, so basically I don’t like any of it except the eating part!! Whenever I can find easy and delicious recipes I jump on the bandwagon! Fix ahead? Make in the crock pot? Just a few ingredients? Now we’re talking!!

When we were back home earlier this summer one of my cousins made this absolutely fabulous Sopapilla Cheesecake for our 4th of July celebration! Before we left she gave me the recipe! I finally got around to making it and made some Sunday night to take to a playdate on Monday! I am telling you, it is easy AND tasty! We had some that night for dessert and Chris said we were going to have to get more stuff to make one for us! However, our playdate ended up getting rescheduled so we lucked out and didn’t have to share!

Because I have thousands of pictures I want {and need} to sort through and edit {I’d rather be chatting photography than cooking!}, I am taking the easy way out and copying and pasting this from the web!! It varies ever so slightly from the recipe I used, but I am confident it will leave your mouth watering!

SOPAPILLA CHEESECAKE

  • 3 {8 ounce} packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 {8 ounce} cans crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar {used for topping}
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Beat the cream cheese with 1 1/2 cups of sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Unroll the cans of crescent roll dough. Use one can to cover the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture into the baking dish. Cover with the second can of dough.
  3. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cheesecake. Stir the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar together with the cinnamon in a small bowl, and sprinkle over the cheesecake along with the almonds.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until the crescent dough has puffed and turned golden brown, about 45 minutes. Cool completely in the pan before cutting.
So there was dessert…now how about a meal? Well, it is technically an appetizer, but we ate it as a meal! Last week I blogged about the new Southern Living Kids Cookbook I bought at Barnes and Noble. There are some really great recipes in there!! We {read: Chris} made the first one this weekend – Crunchy Munchy Lettuce Wraps.
CRUNCHY MUNCHY LETTUCE WRAPS
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 T peanut or canola oil
  • 1 {8 oz} can bamboo shoots, drained and minced
  • 1 {8 oz} can sliced water chestnuts, drained and minced
  • 1/2 {8 oz} package sliced fresh mushrooms, minced
  • 4 green onions, minced
  • 1/2 cup frozen sweet peas
  • 1/2 cup sesame ginger 30-minute marinade {book suggests Lawry’s}
  • 12 iceberg lettuce leaves
  1. Cook turkey until it is no longer pink. Drain. Set aside.
  2. Add oil to pan and place over medium heat until hot. Add bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, mushrooms and onions. Allow to heat up and add peas, marinade and turkey. Cook, stirring constantly, until thoroughly heated.
  3. Spoon about 1/2 cup turkey mixture into each lettuce leaf and fold leaves in half. Dip wraps in marinade if you like.

On a side note here, this smelled horrible at first! I am really picky about food and don’t venture out of my comfort zone much so the thought of eating bamboo shoots and water chestnuts was almost enough to push me over the edge, but it was seriously delicious once it was done! The marinade comes in a bottle, NOT a package. Chris does the shopping {no surprise there!} but I would have totally been looking for a package and not a bottle. We didn’t use the mushrooms…I refuse to eat them! I think that’s it? Seriously great!! And makes a ton!! We still have some left!!

Now, do YOU have any recipes you want to share? Feel free to post the whole thing or a link in the comments section! I would love to see what you fabulous girls are making for your sweet families!! If I come across anything else that we absolutely love, I’ll be sure to share!

P.S. WordPress is super picky about spacing and I am super picky about everything being perfect so we are having issues with the spacing in this one! The whole copying/pasting thing threw it off, so just ignore the fact that there are extra spaces in some places and not enough spaces in others! I can NOT fix it!! :)

Pre-K

So Monday was Huntler’s first day back at school this year. Crazy I know…it was only August 3rd. But since he is still little and doesn’t really get the whole “summer vacation” thing anyway, he was more than ready! And this year, so was I.

What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time I was absolutely traumatized at the thought of him starting school. I dreaded it. I cried. I absolutely hated the thought of someone else taking care of my little man. Everything about it went against what I wanted. Yet Huntler was beyond thrilled to be going to school. He was ready even though I was not. And that is the one and only thing that made that first week bearable. Had he been screaming and crying and clinging desperately to my leg, I NEVER in a million years would have had the strength to leave him. But he didn’t. He found his name on his cubby, hung his backpack on his little hook and out the door to play he went like he had done it a hundred times before. I will never forget that morning as I stood there with Gentry on my hip looking out the windows as my first born began this new phase in his life. It is one of those memories that is forever etched in my mind and my heart.

Here he is on his first day of preschool last year. He looks so young here. It is amazing what a difference a year makes.

img_9587_2

Last week we had “Back to School Night” and went to meet his teacher and check out his classroom. He was already familiar with his teacher and has some of his friends from last year are in his class, so that helps. Well, let’s face it, it helps me but he is the type of kiddo that would probably thrive in any setting!

But this year is a little different…and Huntler will be the first to tell you so. You see, he isn’t in preschool again my friends, no, this year he is in Pre-K. Yeah…he is BIG stuff!! There were quite a few of the kids that barely missed the cutoff for starting Kindergarten, so his school is offering a Pre-K class this year for those kiddos and will focus on different things than they did last year.

He also had to have school supplies this year. Now THAT makes it real!! Saturday we set out, armed with our list and our little school boy to get what we needed. I think Huntler enjoyed every single aspect of it!

Since I didn’t get this post done on Monday like I had planned to, I can now say that the little guy has been to school twice this new year and is loving it! There is one little boy in particular that he talks non stop about and seems to have befriended. He loves his teacher. He is proud of the papers he has brought home so far. He is glad to be back in the swing of things!

And now I have to get…things might be nice and peaceful while he is away, but once he is home for thirty minutes, the fighting and drama pick right back up!

Ten on Tuesday

1. I am all for blaring music but I cannot stand for the TV to be too loud. It seriously sends me over the edge. Is that weird?

2. Sunday morning I spent a couple of hours on the computer and organized all of my “bookmarks.” I added a bunch of new categories and now have everything all nice and neat! And from this point on, when I decide to bookmark something, I am going to rename it and put it where it belongs! And if it doesn’t “belong” anywhere, then I’ll create a new space for it!

3. I think I snapped out of my funk! After over a week of not touching my camera, I finally picked it back up on Sunday and it felt really good! I think sometimes a little break does us all good!

4. If you have any great work out tunes that you want to share, I would love to hear ‘em! I am trying to do better about updating my playlist so I am not listening to the same songs over and over and over and over again!! I have enough that I only hear them every three or four days, but the more, the better!

5. I heard on the news last night that we just came out of the hottest July on record. FABULOUS. Funny that we had the coolest June on record, don’t ya think?

6. I could live on Crunchy Cheetos. For real. LOVE those things!

7. Gentry woke me up at 5:40 this morning saying she wanted panties. She still sleeps in pullups and she peed through and soaked her bed. She did the same thing yesterday at naptime.

8. I finally got all the receipts entered into Quicken last night!! Yahoo! I hadn’t done it since before we left for Kansas at the end of June so I was way behind!

9. Chris and I watched two movies in three nights! That is seriously a record for us!! One of our Netflix movies we had for five months! Needless to say, we finally just sent that one back and got something that sounded more appealing!!

10. The dishwasher has been started. The first load of laundry for the day needs to be moved to the dryer. I am off to make beds, pick up, clean the bathroom mirrors {that I just did on Saturday yet have grubby prints ALL over them!!} and run the sweeper. Hopefully the kidlets will both take naps again today and I can squeeze in my workout while they are napping! So yes, I will probably be wearing my pajamas until late afternoon! But I am totally okay with that!! Just so you know, don’t come over…I won’t be answering the door!

Letting Go…The Sneak Peek!

I have an entire post I want to do on this very subject {Letting Go}, but for tonight all I’ve got for ya is one lonely little picture! Today was Huntler’s first day back to school and I have that post mostly written and ready to go, but am not going to get it finished tonight. These fun splash park pics from last night lured me in and I couldn’t help but play around with them instead of the ones I snapped this morning before school!

Anyway, I switched up the order of actions I have been using trying to gain fresh perspective this week. Love it. Also loving the crazy composition and cropping too! I needed a breath of fresh air in my photography and am super happy with what I captured last night!
