Every single decision I make for these two is out of complete and utter love. It just so happens that some of those decisions are harder than others. Take H1N1 and the vaccine for example! I have read and reread all of the comments you have taken the time to leave both here and on Facebook in regards to the H1N1 vaccine. That being said, I am still at a loss on what to do! Just when I think I make my mind up, I change it.
But at this point, it really doesn’t matter anyway. I called the kids’ pediatrician yesterday to talk with them about it. They have none of the vaccine in stock and the waiting list is extremely long. The receptionist even made a point to tell me not to think they had forgotten about us, it is just that long. So I questioned her…like 4-5 weeks? At least. Quite possibly longer.
So begins a new chapter in our lives. We can’t live in a bubble. But we CAN be ultra careful. We will take our vitamins and eat healthy. We will drink water and orange juice. We will get fresh air and sunshine. We will steer clear of any and all playplaces and lay low on the playdates. Because that is all we can do.
In a way, yes, I am relieved that the vaccine isn’t in stock and the waiting list is miles long. It makes my decision easy…and it was the one my gut was telling me to go with anyway.
And that my friends, is all I’ve got today. It is cloudy and cool and I am having the urge to get my little loves out and in front of my camera in the orange grove where I shot these last year…

Well I’m glad you were able to reach a decision you are comfortable with. I think those small lifestyle changes will be more than enough to keep you and your family happy and healthy. I’ve even been stuffing a multi-vitamin in Gareth’s mouth every night at supper! Will you guys be in the area for any of the pending holidays?! We are anxious to see you all again!
It’s good to hear that you are at peace with what decision you have had to make! It is a very hard decision, and one that is neither right nor wrong or but only correct in the way that you choose to make it. Although we choose to get it for our daughter and ourselves, many of our friends have not and that is OK. I’m also glad to hear you are taking personal precautions to avoid the flu without the shot. Many people think they should get the vaccine, but also are not worried about the flu. It is a nasty virus for anyone, and I don’t wish it upon anyone, so good to know you are taking the precautions!
Just a heads up to when might be the most important times to take caution in activities….They say that pandemics come in 3 phases, the first of which was last spring, the second which hit mid Sept. thru Oct. and the final third phase which is predicted to occur in Feb.
With that in mind, we will still stay away from all play areas, stores, and public places with lots of people until probably April when flu seasons is about over. Choices that a mom must make to protect their children are difficult but ones we must live with so I choose to protect and live in our small bubble! Fresh air, lysol, clorox, germ-x and antibacterial soap are my friends for now, along with eating healthy and staying strong.
Kuddo’s to you for making a great decission for you and your family. Each night a pray that my friends and family are guided in the right directions and make the best decissions for their family. It sounds like you are doing just that!
Again, sorry this is such a long comment. It’s just a hard subject and hits very close to home!
Hi,
New reader of your blog…I’m in AZ too. Just wondering where your orange grove is…I would love to take my girls for some holiday photos.
i love those little lollies!!
Its nice that you are in pictures this time, too!
I think us mommies spend the majority of our time behind the lens, not in front of it
Such sweet pictures of some of my absolute favorite peeps in the world:) Thought of you this weekend, everytime I was in an elevator (and made Britton push the buttons), or out shopping (I think I only peed twice the whole weekend, at the hotel!;) No public restrooms for me thanks!) But . . . while I was away, Grandma took the kids to the McD’s play place, and the church nursery! Stellar. Talk to you soon,
love ya! (All of you guys and gals!)
