I could have almost wrote this post. I tried taking Mya to the dentist twice when she was 3 and there was no way she was having it. I tried everything possible. My dentist told me not to worry about it, take extra care when brushing with her at home and we would try again. So she turned 4 and we went for her appt. Still had a slight freak out, but atleast got her to sit on my lap in the chair and she sort of opened her mouth so that they could clean her teeth. Wasn't probably the best cleaning she could have gotten but at least it was a start! We were suppose to have her appt yesterday for her 6 month cleaning but had to cancel due to an ice storm. This time she threw a fit because she WANTED to go to the dentist! You just never know about kids..... : -)

Hi there - I found your blog a couple months back and first have to say that you are awesome. I absolutely adore your mad party skills and your kids are just so darn cute. I've wanted to comment before but wasn't really sure what to say to a complete stranger until now. I went through the same fears with my daughter who is 3 1/2 and the funny thing is that my sister is our dentist. After 2 completely failed attempts to sit in the dentists chair, we started to play dentist at home. I would have her lay down and I would brush her teeth and then I would lay down and she would do mine. On the next trip to the dentist she was much more prepared and laid on my lap for her cleaning. After much thought, I think the scary part is laying down in the chair under the big spot light. Good luck!

Cute picture of your brave boy!

I can completely relate to this post. Kamree acted the same exact way and I had to hold her down with my arms and legs for a cleaning. She ended up having one cavity and we were referred to a pediatric dentist who was fabulous! I did make the hubs take her to the filling appointment. I hope you can find a pediatric dentist who accepts your insurance.
